This is the 2nd unit I've received as the first one had a horrible creaking sound from one of the springs when adjusting the upper portion of the arm.

On top of that It makes a horrible grinding sound which sounds like finger nails being ran across a chalk board

Perhaps I am the victim of a bad batch, but Amazon was awesome enough (as usual) to send me two of these and both of them 1) make a sawing or grinding sound when moving in and out, 2) make a creaking sound sometimes when moving left and right, or when a lighter weight mic is "settling,"

In one of the video reviews it showed how with a solid mic to stand setup would pick up the slightest sound like if you took a writing pen and dropped it on the table the Mic picked up that sound, I bought a Blue Yeti Black edition mic and a RODE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom mic stand as I mentioned

The arm holds up well, but don't hit the table or you will record the rattling sound of the springs hitting the tubes.

I agree with several other reviews that the mic stand is loud (makes squeaking and popping sounds when moved).

I have had this product for over a year now and it seems to have held up great other than the fact that when I move the boom, it occasionally creates an annoying squeaking sound that I would not expect from such a highly praised product (the squeak is not due to over-use, it happened from the day it came out of the box.
