has nothing to do with surge suppression...it has a resettable breaker that trips when the power used exceeds the breaker's rating of 15 amps...it will not trip when surges hit the strip...do not rely on this to protect your equipment...use it to individually turn on and off pieces of equipment that is plugged into it...not even sure if equipment that is plugged into it and the switch turned off will be protected from spikes, as the switches are not very good quality...disappointed in unit...only reason that i will keep it is because of the individual switches when i dont need everything on at once
