The action on the adjustable-angle portion of the split top is very smooth.

Packing is just enough to protect the table from damage in shipping, though you do have to be careful removing the box of supplies from between the left and right portions of the frame

On the adjustable angle portion I can fit most of my sketchbooks and whatnot
