Slow write speeds (barely 30 MBs) is too slow for a supposedly usb3 drive

18.04.If speed isn't a worry for you then this drive is nice and sturdy, but for me these are worthless

And while I can deal with those slower speeds since this is just meant as a backup drive, the biggest issue is honestly the heat

It may have phenomenal sequential speed (for the first 30-60 sec anyway), but that means nothing when you're trying to do something on a live boot system and it feels like you're trying to muddle through windows 98 still.

The drive supports USB 3.0 for super fast speeds and the little lanyard hole is a life saver

Not to mention they had very little hours used on them since I would use my SanDisk USB drives instead which have a significant speed increase over these

it does fast speeds, if youre using them in a 3.0 port for your computer you should be fine, but ive had a few devices that cant recognize these, they just dont show up, or theyll take a long time, or theyll randomly disconect, its annoying to say the least, I couldnt get them to work in a usb extender, I think they must draw a lot of power or something

This drive has very slow average write speed of 20mb/s and the transfer rate jumps wildly from 5mb to 25mb.

I often write large files to this device 40+GB and it always starts out around 6-14MB a second which is good speed

This drive is pretty hefty for something of its size, it's got fast transfer speeds and it's served me perfectly well every time I've used it.

It can be some weird compatibility problem (as other devices work at faster and more consistent transfer speeds), but even then it would be a negative mark against it (and therefore useful to have this review for people to properly set people's expectations, in case that ends up being the case for them).

Once you exceed the 50% mark on the read/write tests, the write speeds do drop, but not significantly.

FYI, SanDisk Ultrafit writes at 26 MB/s but will slow down to 16 MB/s after about 1GB of transfer at the higher rate and does get noticeably warm
