Of course, if your computer is equipped with a DVD/Bluray player, you can copy movies to a portable harddrive and play them on your TV (even over your LAN with the proper app, perhaps with an app called PLEX).

With Smart TV's and other smart phone apps widely available having these capabilities in a DVD player is sort of a null issue now anyway.

So far it has been a great player with fast loading and nice apps.

Cons are that the apps are terribly slow, one must manually select DTS or DD encode in the audio settings before watching a movie which is annoying manual work that must be done .

All other apps like Vudu, Pandora, BBC News work just

But as for the Samsung products, when they work, its beautiful, so nice to use the tv remote to control the blu-ray player, and all the optimal picture settings and 3-D settings work automatically because of the Samsung connection
