While the color is better on IPS, MOST of us don't need it!The Color and contrast are very good, but it's only 1000:1 contrast ratio, good for most uses, but not extreme.

I never use the "Eye Saver" mode, which ruins color and contrast.

I'm looking at a bunch of complex colors right now where there are pink, orange, and blue shades that vary in gradient (from dark pink to light pink for instance)

The picture quality was pretty good (maybe the colors could have been better though), but I had to return it for a refund after getting it replaced.

Truly, the panels put into these are total garbage and look terrible next to anything with decent color

It suddenly started to produce an irritating background noise when the image on the screen is mostly white; if I switch to another image that is mostly comprised of dark color the noise ceases, but it comes back again when I switch back

This panel supports 10-bit color depth (1 billion colors), however this monitor is TN-based, so the colors will be far better than your usual TN panel, but still not as good as an IPS panel.

(Actually I went down to my local BB as Amazon Prime shipping isn't instant).The main thing: no leaking backlight, great contrast and color, sharp images, I would avoid the knock-offs and go for this Samsung

Beautiful... just beautiful, the colors are amazing, games run well in 4k, paired with an https://www.amazon.com/Radeon-4096-bit-DisplayPort-Gaming-Graphics/dp/B012DSZ2U4/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1478100326&sr=8-1&keywords=r9+fury+strix , the R9 Strix has Freesync and can run games in 4k at a solid frame rate, my former monitor, which was 1080p and lacked freesync, started to make me ill with new games, this monitor solved that issue as there isn't any screen tearing, I can turn v-sync off and rely on the open standard freesync to control the framerate of the monitor to the framerate that the AMD R9 Strix can muster

The picture is super clear, sharp, and the colors are chrisp and clear.

As a whole experience, if you're tight in budget, I would even suggest you go to some 1080P or 2K monitor with better color and support
