I did that, and it was less soapy, but again, very little improvement on the dark scenes
-
I wanted an upgrade over the old HDTV, not the same “grainy-blurry-hard-to-see-the-dark-scenes” nonsense
-
This setting also dims the backlight when dark scenes are being shown on the TV
-
A much cheaper regular 2 or 3-year-old flat screen HDTV will give you pretty much the same kinda grainy effect with the darker scenes
-
So, you either turn on AMP & LED CM options for good clarity and deal with the soap effect, or you turn it off and deal with the not so clear blacks and/or dark scenes

Within just a few hours of adjusting settings & watching different shows on different channels with various providers (cable, netfilx, hulu, prime, etc.), I started to notice that the dark scenes on some shows (such as the Walking Dead) were lacking the sharp clarity I was expecting & looking for, especially when dishing out over $1200 for a new TV

AT FIRST - for watching regular shows and sports, but it lacked the sharp clarity with dark scenes
