I replaced them with slightly larger (because the plastic cut away the drywall) metal anchors that worked.

I had to take those 3 out, damaging the drywall a little bit and use bigger anchors to use the same spot in the drywall.

In the past I've used everything from push-in plastic "anchors" (which sometimes pull out), toggle bolts (which require a relatively large hole and can damage the drywall if heavily loaded, such as mounting a large artwork or shelf), to snap-in anchors (which combine some of the detriments of the other two)

Get the old style drywall hanger that secures to the back side of the wall board.
