Sennheiser HD 650 Open Back Professional Headphone

    • The HD650's do not sound quite as good to me on my 6s iPhone (same CD quality uncompressed music)--probably because of the 300 ohm resistance of the 650s, so a good amp does improve the quality of the sound to my ears.
    • After that period, you will be suprised by remarkable quality of sound produced by HD650
    • They seem a little tight fitting at first but sound quality is excellent as expected
    • Stunning sound quality
    • They still cause a bit of soreness after a while, but the sound quality is very good, and really clear
    • Before you jump off the edge about this, let me qualify by saying that to run these phones with iPod you MUST invest in a good quality headphone amp, which I did.
    • Excellent sound quality.
    • The quality and softness of the earpads and headband cushion make me smile, materials selection is top notch
    • I had never purchased an expensive quality pair of headphones such as these previously, but this purchase is definitely one that I'd make again
    • The sound quality is effortless and very detailed without being harsh or fatiguing
    • The build quality is fine, they are solid with a reasonable weight, plastic housings with metal at critical points, the overall look is good as well
    • and I guess I need to get a high-end extension (which, despite what I've read, I doubt will harm my sound quality).
    • The ear pads are low quality fabric, like what you find on cheap Steelseries Siberia headphones
    • I happen to use my headphones with an amp, but am unsure whether it is needed for a great quality.
    • and this is far from the best quality setup
    • Great Headphones!, very good quality.
    • Nice build quality, excellent sound...although I don't like that people can hear what I'm listening to when listening at high volumes
    • Sound quality is amazing
    • very good quality~
    • every other headphone have sound quality through wireless option worst indeed, still best option connection for optimal sound quality is wire
    • you start to use the Sennheiser HD 650 headphones, you will most likely feel that this was one of the best music listening headphones at the price point of approximately $400.00 to $500.00.To obtain the maximum sound quality of the Sennheiser HD 650 headphones, you will need a good quality stereo pre-amp and or stereo amplifier to power the headphones
    • Poor quality on expensive headphones is unacceptable
    • The sound quality is well worth the price.
    • If you're listening to a black metal garage band, chances are you won't be hearing much of a "soundstage", but it'll still sound about as good as it possibly could (just remember that you're only as good as your source; a high quality mp3 may sound very good, but lossless files are recommended)
    • If your device can't provide that voltage, even an inexpensive headphone amp like a Schitt Magni-2 will provide more than enough voltage and audio quality for these headphones.
    • The HD 650's are pretty much the best of both worlds, with great bass and good quality through their full range.
    • so if used without adequate power they probably would not have the big tight and punchy bass as they have with a good quality high power headphone amp
    • The audio quality is fine
    • required for class but the reason is because it is a great quality
    • The EBs did satisfy the basshead in me, and the quality was better than anything I had heard in an earphone or headphone
    • I hadn't really had any nice quality audio gear before this
    • Smooth, soothing sound quality while still retaining great amount of detail.
    • All plastic, and poor construction quality
    • Solid build quality
    • I can't really say that the quality was good or bad, because, even at the highest volume, it seemed I had noise dampening earplugs in.
    • The sound quality is outstanding
    • I won't repeat the reviews about the fantastic sound quality, but after nearly three years and hundreds of hours of use, it's time to report on some unacceptable flaws at this price range.- First of all is the very uncomfortable pinch of the ears, which has become less of a problem after the first year, but is still very present even now
    • Honestly, I probably didn't enjoy the sound quality in Ministry of Sound Club in London this much
    • I am an audiophile that is willing to spend a fairly hefty amount of money for good quality headphones.
    • I decided to go with these HD 650s, hoping to get some comfortable, high quality headphones
    • Great sound quality.
    • They make a difference, but if you already have closed headphones, especially if they have high bass, it takes a while to notice the difference and to appreciate the quality
    • Sound quality is very good as always
    • Best sound quality achieved with an amp
    • Great sound quality.
    • They sounded worse than 598s and the build quality felt terrible
    • Sound quality was fantastic, as I would expect from Sennheiser, but the headband broke within a year, rendering the set unusable.
    • I am absolutely happy with my purchase and here is why:Pros:- Fantastic sound, albeit a bit on the darker side (amazingly natural mids, and poignant lows with controlled highs)- Amazing bargain at $350, as the sound quality is truly
    • You will want a multi-disc player or good quality digital music (big hard drive)
    • Fantastic sound quality and a beautiful wide pin point sound stage when supplied with excellent source materials and amplification.
    • Super good quality, super durable
    • I initially tried the 600 ohms Beyer DT880 and quickly realized that they are very power hungry and deserves nothing less than a good quality headphone amplifier to drive them
    • In terms of source material requirements, lossless files or 320kbps MP3s would provide optimal sound quality.
    • I checked out Halloween sound effects Vol 2 from the library, and the whole CD had an eerie, surreal quality, just like when you're on vacation in another city and Jeopardy comes on at 7 p.m. instead of 7:30
    • Well...like with TVs, the more you spend sometimes, the better the quality actually is.
    • Comfortable to wear, nice build quality.
    • And the build quality of the 650s has renewed my faith in Sennheiser as well.
    • The quality on the headphone cables is poor and so is Sennheiser customer support
    • As far as sound quality, I won't pretend that I am any kind of
    • Sound quality is good
    • Quality/sound wise so far so good.
    • I am merely saying the build quality is excellent the comfort is also excellent and I feel they are just like many people say.... excellent
    • You will not get the proper sound quality that these are capable of if you don't give them enough power
    • You will be very pleased with the amazing sound quality you will hear every thing in well balanced in even tone as for nothing triumphs anything out
    • Reference quality (good enough for me anyway!).
    • I spent 3 weeks trying to sell myself on the 650s - the published reviews are so high, I have wanted these for so many years, they look amazing, the build quality is awesome, they are comfortable on my head.
    • I think the sound quality is clean and neutral
    • The build quality of the unit is decent but not the best.
    • It may not be as stimulating that way, but it's better quality listening
    • The build quality of these headphones feel cheap, like they might break easily
    • not a rip off also amazing sound quality recommend getting an amp for them.
    • I convert my CD collection to both 1400 kbps and 320 kbps 44.1 MHz so it can be played at the best quality on whatever system I am using
    • With regard to the HD650's build quality, I thought it was
    • The better the quality of the source
    • Sennheiser is an exceptional brand with great sound quality all across the board
    • Besides the amazing sound quality they are extremely comfortable
    • Mine cost me about 65 bucks in parts and a bit more than that in good audiophile quality tubes
    • If you've never had good quality headphones, these might not be your best first choice.
    • If you use a good CD player and a headphone amp, the sound quality would be more impressive!Anyway, enjoy outstanding HD650!!
    • The build quality of the unit is excellent.
    • Sound quality is great and comfort is unmatched.
    • When I saw the pictures on the Internet, I thought it looked kind of chunky, old, and dull, but when I held it in my own hands, it screamed quality and it was beautiful
    • These are probably the best headphones in my collection because they are quite comfortable and the sound quality is just amazing.
    • The build quality is excellent
    • Sound quality was pretty good
    • I've always thought of myself as an audiophile who can't afford true audiophile quality
    • The build quality is good and while it does use a lot of plastic it feels durable
    • But after being so used to hearing the superior sound quality of HD650, even the PXC 450 sounds lackluster
    • Very happy, great quality - exactly what we wanted.
    • The sound quality is exceptional in this price range.
    • He loves the sound quality of these while listening to records
    • Now I'm addicted and want to try more Sennheiser's of an even better quality so that would be my only warning.
    • If you’re looking to upgrade to these from something like a HD558 or 598 I would say go to an audio store that can provide you with a burned in set of headphones with good quality DAC/Amp and the listen to the kind of music you like
    • After owning the HD 600 and HiFiMan HE400i, each have great qualities but the best mix of all qualities keeps going back to the HD 650.The 650s are never harsh where the treble in the HE400i can become so after a few songs
    • So, that will greatly improve the sound quality and expose more nuances of the headphones.
    • , It is bitperfect software have Lots of Audio futures & excellent sound quality 10 times better what average ITUNES sounds like, Native DSD playback, advanced metadata editing etc
    • I also find myself listening to music at a lower volume because the quality of the sound is so good that I don't need higher volume to find that I am immersed in the music
    • The only downsides I can think of (open design, hard to drive properly, non-flat frequency response) are design decisions that given these cans their beautiful sound quality so they can't really be considered downsides.
    • For those who want the quality but don't like the idea of spending hundreds on an amplifier, Headroom ([...]) has their own brand of cheap, portable headphone amps that work
    • Tried some burned in AKG Q 701 Quincy Jones Signature Reference-Class Headphones ($250) and Sennheiser HD 558 Headphones (($180).
    • if the high price of these should scare u off,I can also recommend the HD 558's,as I was never dissatisfied with the sound of my old headphones.
    • Thank U ;)
    • If you like a laid-back, really mellow phone with no personality, you might like these
    • I am etiher getting accustomed to the sound or they are improving as I use them more
    • In excellent condition as well--almost as if they were never opened :D Thank you!
    • So I looked at Sennheiser other phones as well as
    • and I absolutely love them months after purchasing just as much as I did the first day.
    • The HD650's may not have the fancy technologies of orthodynamic or electrostatic units, nor the pricey parts and accessories, but they definitely sound nearly as good and even better in some ways
    • I have found they sound marvelous with vintage Marantz receivers that can be obtained inexpensively, as well as from modern dedicated headphone amps
    • The headphones were nice enough to put the Braille letter L on the left side but the cable has no such thing.
