I had problems extracting speech from the background noises on many TV shows and that has cleared up so much

Finally, my wife and I can hear the voices no matter how soft spoken and no matter how loud the background noise.

While I do not need to use these for all programming on TV, they are very good for those shows with poor sound recording where the background noise or music makes the dialog difficult to hear

[I have some diminished low and high frequency hearing loss -- as people age, they naturally lose increasing amounts of high frequency sensitivity, which makes distinguishing some consonants - like b,c,d,f,p,s,t for example - difficult, thus making speech intelligibility problematic, especially in the presence of background noise or foreign accents].

The good news is that they block ambient noise [washing machines, other audio sources, background noise, teenagers] and don't irritate the ears themselves.

For TV-movies (especially modern day movies with loud music background and other background noise), speech is now also 100% understandable using the noise reduction feature which is simply turned on or off with one button pushed from the headset.

They really eliminate the background noise and using two sets on the TV, my wife and I can adjust the individual sound of each headset while muting the TV speakers.

I could not clearly understand speech from a TV or (especially) from a TV-movie with background noise or accents.

A simple twist of a switch on the "cradle" for the headphones puts out the frequencies required to understand the words (generally, a one-time setting requirement), and a push button on either the cradle or the headphones kills the background noise when required.

I am so thankful that tools like this are available to help the hearing impaired as well as to provide a more enjoyable hearing experience for those who hear well.

Although I found all the hearing profiles except for "D" to sound significantly unbalanced (with "E" to "G" inclusive sounding progressively more irritating with far too much emphasis of higher frequencies), I can certainly imagine that they would do a good job for people with hearing loss at high frequencies
