The ear bud tips are a sort of molding foam which really isolates background noise and the wings keep them stable in your ear

If you’re in a noisy area, they don’t cancel out background noise anywhere near as good as the Apple products

Call quality is also very clear and the mic pickup is sensitive enough that people do not have any difficulty hearing you but does not pick up every background noise in the world.

The noise cancelling effect is as described, you can def hear the call clearly with minor background noise.
