The top shelf won't go on even with pounding it with a rubber mallet.

The only problem I had with it was installing the final shelf as it was out of square a bit.

However, the poles arrived with the unremovable plastic tops installed on the bottom of the poles [hence the previous review of no double lines at the bottom of the poles], which removes about 1.5 inches of available shelf space

The highest shelf setting is 31" making the top shelf surface a mere 29.75".

Wish the handle locked into place a bit more tightly, but sandwiched below the top shelf there is no danger of it going anywhere.

I put this shelf on top and used a rubber mallet to push it down and it straightened right out and is perfect.

But it has held up so far for piling on lots of heavy paper charts organized on racks that easily fit even under the top shelf

Very sturdy and larger than it looks, I use it as a microwave stand (top shelf), mixer, food processor, paper plates etc

My mixer stays on the top shelf and all my baking supplies reside on the lower shelves

Which means no way will I ever try to stand on the top shelf

I use the top shelf for mu cutting Board and food Prep.

Moving into my small retirement apartment, I wanted a handy rolling desk - top shelf for my computer set up, second shelf for my meds, and bottom shelf has a cat cube sitting next to my printer.

What's great is that I put out the things I use most frequently on the top shelf (coffee, spoons I use for cooking, spices, a stack of tea towels, and etc)

We were able to insert a round bar into it and pound it into almost-round....and we used it as the top shelf (so it didn't have to travel as far down the leg).
