Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 - PlayStation 2

    • Using magic and skills that alter your characters attacks, defense, and element affinities is a big deal in the battle system as you need to weaken the enemies while buffing your characters just to survive a normal battle
    • Being able to get past a difficult enemy when it feels impossible at first is just a great feeling
    • Battles are based on exploiting enemies weaknesses to knock them down
    • So if you attack an enemies weakness your character gets to go again but something to think about is that the enemies have the same advantage as well.
    • Now you have to try each different form of attack in order to find out an enemy's weakness
    • A Dizzy enemy or character will not be able to stand up on their next turn unless an item or ability is used (I believe the skill name is Re Patra)
    • For example, they can sometimes attack enemies when you knock them down, or take hits for you that would normally kill you
    • It is way more then just attacking until it is dead as many normal enemies can be devastating to your party if you are not careful
    • The combat in Persona 4 is similar to that from Persona 3, but there are several battle mechanic changes that may throw P3 veterans for a loop(you can hit knocked-down enemies without them getting back up, for example)
    • There are other things like the One More system gives you the ability to attack multiple times if you exploited the enemy's weakness
    • Once you get the hang of things (Like getting the enemy's weaknesses down and etc, which will make battles come out easy as pie ) it'll eventually grow on you
    • One little nice adjustment in battles is that when you hit an enemy with it's weakness and knock it down ( like a fire element attack if it's weak against fire), and you hit it AGAIN with it's weakness, it'll stun the enemy or make them dizzy, so basically the first weakness strike will knock them down and the second will make them dizzy
    • Now, if you're incredibly close to Chie personally, she'll take deadly hits for you; knock out enemies you're struggling with; heal your status ailments
    • Each enemy and character have elemental weaknesses and strengths (Ice, fire, wind, ect.
