The difference between Silent Hill and Resident Evil or others like them is that Silent Hill is pyschologically scary.

The game, unlike REsident Evil ,or many other horror games, chooses to scare you in a more mental, quiet sense (not to say resident evil is bad, I'm mearly saying SH and RE are very different form one another)

I had played resident evil, parasite eve, etc; and enjoyed them all.

While "Resident Evil" was widely popular as a survival horror series, Konami decided to take advantage of this genre and along came "Silent Hill

While its almost as good as Resident Evil 4, people who still have a Ps2 or a working PSX, you should pick this up

and if you like resident evil but want more psychologically frightening experience this game is for you

cartoons(certainly not as horrid as the original Resident Evil)

There's also no corny voice acting (which Resident Evil is also famous for) to get in the way.

Resident Evil is great, but I would go for the pyschological thriller than a slasher flick.

The graphics might not be as good as Resident Evil,it's still a must buy

The game starts off with a C.G.I. cut scene of a you crashing your car in silent hill where you have to find your wife and daughter, If you don't like this genre you wont silent hill, If you didn't like resident evil because it was too hard in the puzzle department silent hill is about as hard
