This is the first game in the Silent Hill series and for those of you left confused by the third installment(Shame on you for playing out of order) this will clarify most questions you have about the series although some must be answered by the player themselves

With all due respect to Capcom and the Resident Evil series... those games are fantastic and a lot of fun, but Silent Hill made the amount of fear so high that many gamers are afraid to not only play it, but even THINK about it

In The Dark series, which were just plain bad console conversions of average PC games

While both game series are fun, this one has that series beaten in the "creepy" department; evil nurses and demon children will attack you when you least expect it, even with your radio blaring out static.

If you enjoy this game, check out Jacob's Ladder, an excellent and disturbing movie, that hugely inspired this game and the series in general, this will also help you get a feel for the whole disjointed reality, nightmare scenarios present thorughout the whole series

i would say RE is obviously more like Romero's Living Dead series, with a little X files thrown in

It is one of the best games of the genre survive horror and for me the best in the series Silent Hill, a true classic, its various elements like fog, images, darkness, created an intense and disturbing atmosphere, the plot and story is very absorbent, a real gem for gamers.
