    SMSL SA50 50Wx2 TDA7492 Class D Amplifier + Power Adapter (Black)

    • - it first came out of the left speaker then the right speaker, and over the past several hours of listening it has been getting louder
    • Tiny yet powerful amp to hook with medium-to-large sized passive speakers
    • Nice looking piece, works fine for my Micca speaker, had to remove one star because the first one I purchased had a weird issue where the speakers would sound great only at certain levels and for some reason in the middle of the sweep they would become muddy like you can't believe
    • Hooked it up to my TV, right speaker didn't work
    • The speakers sound smooth with great clarity
    • In fact, I'd get this amp (as my budget piece) and spend a bit more on good speakers and sound source (receiver or computer card).
    • My last application option is to power passive speakers being used as studio monitors from my recording interface (Focusrite Scarlett 2i4).Due to the lack of a proper adapter at this time, I have not been able to ops check that configuration.
    • A pair of inexpensive bookshelf speakers (look in the frequently bought links at the bottom, any of these are probably ok).
    • I tried it with a pair of inexpensive Micca MB42X speakers and a pair of not-so-inexpensive Phase Tech PC-60 bookshelf speakers.
    •  This is a video on the SA-50, which is a class D speaker amp from SMSL, having serve me extremely well the Aune x3 passive speakers.
    • I use this with a Casio PX-150 digital piano outputting to small good quality speakers
    • I only put that in there because it takes more power to drive speakers with emphasis on the bass as opposed to feeding it a flat signal... and this handles it beautifully
    • If I had more expensive speakers hooked up, I probably wouldn't be so happy.
    • Very quiet when there's no load, drive the 30W RMS speakers well
    • If you're just driving B652s or other really efficient speakers, there's really no need to get such a powerful amp, but if you're driving inefficient speakers like the Miccas, this amp will do you wonders
    • I am sending a strong source signal to the amp that's able to push a 4 ohm load with appropriate power levels through a decent speaker wire with good banana plugs into 2 Micca MB42 C speakers
    • If a person were not building it into something, e.g. making a passive speaker into a powered speaker, then would additionally need either a few small pieces of wood or a purchased enclosure.
    • I have ruled out the speakers being a problem, however since this pop is so infrequent, I have learned to live with it
    • It drives speakers just fine and it will get louder than I can stand to listen to
    • After using it with so many different speakers, I'd suggest models that emphasize highs, like cymbals, because the amp seems to roll off the highs a little too much and I try to never use EQ, brighter speakers will also solve this and would be my choice, if you have a choice
    • The amplifier uses a feedback signal that ensures that the amplifier's frequency response remains perfectly flat within the entire frequency range regardless of what strange speaker impedance you connect
    • Makes my fairly cheap speakers sing nice and loud.
    • Makes my fairly cheap speakers sing nice and loud.
    • I can get the volume up really high before hearing any sort of distortion, and, in fact, it hurt my ears way before it started to hurt the speakers
    • Will update as I try other speakers as well
    • so they are not going to damage the speaker
    • If you're just driving B652s or other really efficient speakers, there's really no need to get such a powerful amp, but if you're driving inefficient speakers like the Miccas, this amp will do you wonders
    • Despite lacking an optical input, this amp is perfectly suited to connect analog audio out from your computer to drive a stereo set of nice (traditional non-powered) speakers
    • A little lacking on the low end bass, (could be just my speakers) but it produces nice clean sound
    • Perfect to drive some nice bookshelf speakers right from my PC.
    • I blame the speakers more than the amp for that.. feels well made & the sound is clear
    • The device does not turn on or only powers the right speaker unless I bend some of the wires on the power brick left to right
    • This amp is more than adequate to drive a pair of modest bookshelf speakers
    • These will be used to power 4 KRK R6's on stands, which also make wonderful bookshelf speakers
    • Powers the speakers very well and sounds wonderful
    • There is no background hiss whatsoever even when driving sensitive speakers
    • This amp achieves a dynamic range of around 100 dB which should be enough if you don't have very sensitive speakers
    • This amp clearly has its limitations, so trying to pair it with some better speakers or comparing it to a big amp like my tube amps would be unfair and illogical.
    • Just make sure you have a decent sound source and speakers
    • I know there's better subs, speakers, amps, sound cards, etc
    • My main speakers are not the most efficient, so this couldn't drive them very loud without sounding strained
    • terrible amplifier one speaker sounds more than the other and above 30% of the volume a horrible distortion
    • With sensitive speakers, however, there is an ever present noise that doesn't go away
    • I replaced it with the SMSL Q5 Pro mini amp and it plays cleaner using the same speakers.
    • Hooked it up to my TV, right speaker didn't work
    • and I can easily discern the difference in quality from Spotify using this little amp and a set of nice bookshelf speakers
    • I bought this to power two nice bookshelf speakers
    • I bought this amp to power an old pair of cheap bookshelf speakers but after listening to it I almost wanted to replace my stereo system since I mostly only use the aux in
    • While other reviewers have noted some hissing with more sensitive speakers, I can't say I've had that problem at all
    • It does have significantly less power than the SMSL, so if you're looking to fill a large room or use it with inefficient speakers, then don't bother with the Topping or the Lepai
    • Portable bluetooth speakers can sound very good, but it is nice to have stereo separation again when listening at home.
    • But using it with some decent small bookshelf speakers with a PC/Laptop as the source and you will be surprised at what this can do!
    • But then keep in mind that neither of these amplifiers will be able to drive low-sensitive speakers to high volume given their limitations in output power
    • But if you want your computer to drive a pair of passive speakers competently, it would be hard to beat this little amplifier for the paltry financial investment
    • I have matched it with a pair of Pioneer SP-22-BS-LR speakers and the system has a nice synergy going for it,sounding much better than its inexpensive price would indicate
    • Simple, quiet and puts out plenty of power when used with efficient speakers
    • I have this powering my outside patio speakers and it works great
    • On my smaller, more efficient speakers, however, it sounds nice and clean.
    • Yes, theoretically it can do 50W with the right power supply, but in reality, run it more than a few watts & the distortion will make the music unrecognizable & rip apart your speakers
    • Still works as of now
    • works as in passing sound one channel has distortion the other is fine....sux
