• Reviews around battery (2.09 of 5)

Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera 24.3MP SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD - Body Only (Graphite)

    • I purchased some spare cheap batteries, but the A6000 rejected them with a menu screen saying they were incompatible
    • It will record about 2 to 3 hours of time-lapse and the battery will be drained
    • Yes, Amazon will replace it but where will I be when it decides to fail again?A couple of its worst shortcomings:*Battery life: absolutely horrendous
    • Pros:- instant focus (which is practically uselles considering it misses 9 out of 10)- lots of commercials and stellar reviewsCons:- Poor battery life: 3-4 hours, max I got 145 shots (no video) till battery completely
    • Another issue is that the camera drains the battery even I don't use the camera.
    • I have charged the camera while traveling in the car and via portable batteries
    • For a battery EATER like this one, charging the battery INSIDE the camera is a BIG disadvantage also, Sony should include an external charger, I had to buy one from Vivitar which I find slow... but it is better than opening and closing the battery compartment again and
    • Overall, incredible image quality that is comparable and even better than that of the T4iBattery Life: 7/10- This is the Achilles' heel of the camera as the battery drains frighteningly
    • I'm a serious time lapse shooter, and battery life, or potential lack thereof, had me a little concerned for sure.
    • Battery refuses to charge.
    • However, between the sad battery life and the equally sad screen/EVF resolution, I think I'm not quite ready to devote myself to this camera for the next 5 years
    • If you used two batteries in a grip (even if Sony) the chips don't agree with eachother and the camera shuts off saying improper battery installed
    • Don't be fooled into buying cheap replacement batteries.
    • Excellent battery life
    • I immediately noticed how fast it drained the battery
    • It was even draining the battery overnight with the camera turned off, so I ordered 2 additional batteries and a charger
    • The screen is useless and is better off not moving at all, not to mention, it drains the battery insanely fast
    • thus draining the battery
    • I tried lowering the screen and EVF brightness and turned down the AF drive speeds as well as pre-AFbut, the battery still drained quickly.- Going through the menu and changing
    • I immediately noticed how fast it drained the battery
    • I have two different genuine Sony batteries
    • so I immediately started looking online for a remedy in various forums and conducting experiments to find out what was draining the battery so fast
    • battery life not that great.
    • The EVF finder stop working, and the camera heats up and the battery is drained if you leave it on for more than a few minutes, so now I have to constantly switch it off after every a couple of shots
    • I estimate that a full battery would be completely dead if left in an unused camera for 2 months
    • a bit weird-battery life is bad (keep in mind that is a common issue with mirror less cameras)In
    • Turned out the battery was depleted and the camera could not recharge it
    • The screen is useless and is better off not moving at all, not to mention, it drains the battery insanely fast
    • BUT ...1 - While others have commented on poor battery life, there HAD to be something wrong with the one I had!
    • There are wall chargers and extra batteries available for extra purchase
    • But if you are accustomed to the insanely good batteries of Canon or Nikon DSLRs, the a6000's 250-ish shots per charge is almost embarrassing.-Wifi, NFC, and the app store
    • BIG downside: BATTERY
    • And don't even think about trying to get a fully compatible battery grip for either model
    • Even allowing for its "advanced age,/old batteries" (It was never abused and looks new) it still has a better battery life than this one for 150.00 more (this Sony was open box during Black Friday, 2017)I wish Sony would LISTEN to people giving them $$$, already
    • I ordered two non-Sony brand extra batteries and a wall charger bundled for about $25 and they work well and the charger also charges the real Sony battery.- Hopefully there will be more choices of Sony E mount lenses in the future
    • Another thing that makes me think it’s not new is the scratches on the flash plastic housing also a scratch on the microphone accessory plug plus the battery was completely dead.
    • But with the poor battery life, poor grip, average image quality, it's hard to shell out that kind of money for a camera
    • As for what could be improved, I’d like to see a bigger grip to accommodate larger lenses and a bigger battery to build upon the mediocre battery life
    • After a few use lately, I found the battery would be exhausted if I left it in the camera for 3 to 5 days
    • It burns up batteries and only takes between 50 to 75
    • The A6000 does seem to really drain batteries
    • Battery only supports 250 - 300 shots for me.
    • Only thing that i do not like is the battery
    • To make this my perfect camera it would need just two things, one is a built in level for the live display and the other is longer battery life, which drains fairly rapidly with the live display on.
    • and I don't want to be at the mercy of a dead battery to ruin a perfectly enjoyable day of photographing
    • But if I shoot and some break in between, even sometime I would turned off then on few minutes later, the battery drain quickly
    • know Sony would never do it because it would cut into their SLT market, but a compatible battery grip and putting the SD card on the side would be nice
    • The default setting is Airplane Mode Off which drains the battery even with the camera off because it is always looking for nearby Wi-Fi devices
    • drains the battery about 1% a minute as well- Charging from 0% to 100% takes about 2-3 hours and no external charger is included; charging is doneby micro USB into the camera- Overall, painfully short battery life
    • It would be nice if it had a better battery
    • I can buy additional batteries but concern is charging them at the same time
    • Exhausted battery means that someone has already tried to used them, and the box being unsealed just give away that the camera that I received is second-hand
    • I don't care for the kit lens because it seems a bit soft and the motorized zoom really drains the battery
    • The zoom isn't quite as smooth as with my DSLR
    • very nice features - 11 frames per second, in camera HDR, lightweight and compact, facial recognition, awesome low light capabilities, very easy to use with no getting frustrated as i toggle between ISO, F-stops, and shutter speed
    • A lot of the Pros complain that the focus system is not as good as those found in a DSLR but for me I found it more than good enough.
    • I had a very capable D3200 and 4 quality lenses.
    • The shutter speed and auto focusing weren't as good as with the newer firmware.
    • so if you purchase them as you upgrade all your lenses will work as you upgrade your camera body.
    • and I could not afford a better body such as
    • The camera is rated as best in class for a wide variety of functions and 'as good as' on most others...up against darn near anything
    • Upgraded from Sony Nex 5T, so I could make use of 18-55 and 55-210 lenses.
    • The a6000 destroys the 5T in autofocus, it is far far faster and more accurate.
    • n’t lack much

    • There are a lot of naysayers on the web who say that Sony doesn't have a good lens selection, but the E mount lenses available for this meet my needs.
    • This is one of my two favorite E-mount lenses.
    • There are some good YouTube videos as well as a good e-book by Gary Friedman (http://www.friedmanarchives.com/alpha6000/index.htm)
    • The fastest e mount or fe mount constant aperture zoom available from any manufacturer is currently f4.0.
    • For now I rely on the fast and clear E-mount Sigma 30mm prime that works perfectly w/ the camera.
