Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera w/ 16-50mm and 55-210mm Power Zoom Lenses

    • It's certainly not a big deal compared to the battery life and/or not recognizing it's own lens and not working at all, but it was still a disappointment
    • And with Sony, these cameras with lens adapters can be used with a lot of the great lens of the old film days.
    • The lens is not half bad for basics
    • Is refurbished and has some small issues "unrecognized lens"; takes great pictures though
    • S95 died with the dreaded "lens error"
    • Two minor quibbles - the lens release button is hard to access because it is positioned between the lens and the camera's handgrip.
    • I didn't enjoy this camera, I'm used to my DSLR and the expensive lens I have invested in several years ago
    • I was looking for a new camera to replace that one, and started reading reviews of other compact changeable lens cameras
    • Again, for the money you can't beat it, but I'm wanting to move on for better lens choices, not a better camera.
    • I decided to get the sony 20mm 2.8 pancake lens for a compact walk-around lens, and a sigma 60mm 2.8 for portraits (my favorite lens with AF on this camera).
    • I had bought mine from Best Buy a couple of year ago (2016) when they had a free lens that came with it
    • How much can you expect from the relatively cheap lens?
    • I picked up the 55-210mm(great lens), and the Sigma 30mm art lens
    • The images are excellent and the kit lens not bad
    • Small size, lightViewfinder24.3 megapixels - equivalent to around 6k resolutionDownloadable appsTilt screenAbility to shoot 11 pictures a secondIncredibly fast autofocusWith a good lens such as the Sigma 30mm F1.4 Contemporary DC DN Lens for Sony
    • I tried the available wide angle lens but found I never used them.
    • I tried to reach someone to ask about adding the zoom lens as well since I realized it was a bargain at only an additional $150 added to the package
    • (note 4)lightweight, small, looks like a point and shoot doesn't attract attentionHigh quality shots!Easy menu, customizable buttonsCons:Not so great lens selection and pretty expensive
    • (note 4)lightweight, small, looks like a point and shoot doesn't attract attentionHigh quality shots!Easy menu, customizable buttonsCons:Not so great lens selection and pretty expensive
    • so I can sneak a Canon lens out of the bag
    • Lens choice is a bit lacking but we are happy with the Sigma 30 mm f/2.8 prime and the Sony 30 mm Macro lens we also ordered at the same time
    • But Sony gets 3 stars for VERY limited lens selection
    • Any other lens, however, eliminates this issue
    • I'm going to try it out with a nicer lens
    • I have my Nikkor 60mm Micro AF-D w/ a cheap adaptor and the lens dwarfs it weight and size wise
    • Also the Sigma 30mm 1.4 is a great prime lens for it
    • Because it's NOT auto zoom, remember to manually retract the lens when storing away the camera
    • WOW great camera, but expensive lens...........
    • This wrecked the lens.
    • The lens that came with this camera stopped working 17 months after purchase.
    • Confounding the issue is that there are reviews on the Web that say this lens is good.
    • I had hoped they would have improved the kit lens from the NEX 6, they didn't
    • My favorite lens is the 35-105 Canon FD zoom, which with the adapter, makes it a well balanced piece of equipment.
    • What started out as a $698 body, I was well into it at about $1400 because I got the 35mm fast lens.
    • So the A6000 makes the lens a 300/f4--not as functional as my 540mm equivalent Canon, but good enough when keeping things light, especially with 24mp for cropping
    • so images that are pretty clean through ISO 1600, this is a way better system than a point and shoot, but I think at 500 to 700 and close to 1000 with a decent prime lens, this camera gets very expensive for the mediocre images it produces.
    • Also, the cost of the Sony with an excellent lens like the Zeis 2.8 12MM is far less than the V3 with an excellent lens.
    • Especially when paired with a good prime lens.
    • Also, SEL1650 is not super sharp lens (which is normal, because it is small zoom lens and you can't beat the laws of physic), if you are pixel peeper you will see it right away, but this is not the point here
    • wow, it is my new world of photography, should have order this longtime ago!Best camera and lens I have ever use, I would recommend this set for any serious photo shooting professional or hobby!
    • I quickly found that the Sony 70-200 lens on the A6000 was just brilliant!
    • I know, it's not an A7 which has a ton more "fast" lens choices (f1.4, f1.8, f2.8) in a bunch of different lens packages
    • I hate the lens
    • Once you upgrade the lens, wow
    • you can get extremely high quality photos for the cost of the cheapest L pro zoom lens (70-200 f4)
    • THIS CAMERA.It has an awesome wide angle stock lens and shoot great high quality video
    • This lens will frustrate the user who is expecting DSLR quality.
    • I cannot emphasize enough how great the SEL35F18 lens is
    • WOW great camera, but expensive lens...........
    • I would like a lens that is faster and sharper than the Sony 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 lens that is the only zoom lens, in this range, that is specifically designed for the A6000.
    • However, I need a better lens than the kit lens.
    • IF you are in the same situation then the RX100 M3 with the new faster lens could be a better option than the A6000 and the so-so kit lens
    • It may not be the most expensive, or the best camera out there, but I wanted another compact changeable lens camera
    • Without a useable and sharp wide angle lens, most landscape photographers will not find the a6000 system to be workable
    • Hey, I call them like I see them good or bad and that lens was horrible, this camera on the other
    • And, at $750, the 10-18 is not a cheap lens (around the same price point as three of my four Canon L-series lenses and far below the performance of all of them)
    • Additionally, the lens has horrid distortion".
    • I guess this is the result of the very compact lens
    • ** about build quality, its all about performance, as a camera #3 it does everything, if you get the right lens pics look stunning, the difference 25fps & 60fps is that its not jittery when panning with 60fps, i do recommend you register faces, if this is your first camera with HDR you will forget when to use HDR, OSS based lens and this body goes hand in hand.i really dont like how i havet to take the sd card out, the buffer light is under the camrea, auto superior is pretty good, mode dial is not smooth enough.amazing manual control over the video.
    • The a6000 has a better sensor but the RX100 has a better lens
    • Pros: - Fast, fast, fast auto focus with the right lens.
    • Small lens has already started jamming, contacting Sony for assistance.
    • Get this to go with it: http://friedmanarchivespress.com/ashop/catalog/The_Complete_Guide_to_Sonys_A6000_Camera.htmlI avoided the whole "great kit lens/ terribly soft at all lengths kit lens" debate by buying the body and the Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-
    • Great beginner lens
    • The images are excellent and the kit lens not bad
    • On powering on the camera the lens made repeated clicking noises and the display showed the message "Cannot recognize lens
    • I didn't want to have to rebuy a good prime and a zoom lens
    • Plus finding the old lens is cheap.
    • The 55-210mm zoom lens is better, although somewhat slow at f6.3
    • The purchase was an A6000 (body only) with the well-reviewed SEL35F18 lens
    • Mines a keeper, and when I get a proper lens, if it still is "wowing" me, I might just sell my Nikon D750 setup......maybe.
    • The smaller lens that comes with it is very problematic
    • The camera is great; the lens only mediocre
    • I do recommend getting a better lens than the one that comes with it though
    • The lens are detachable, the auto focus is super fast
    • This fantastic lens is a
    • 35mm f/1.8 prime lens (becomes a fast 50 for this crop sensor, with stabilization)Cons:-In camera processing not as advanced as the older and lesser qualified Nikon J bodies-Not as weather sealed as Olympus or other mirrorless bodies (I was originally going to get another Nikon 1 series the AW for all weather, but the image quality wasn't nearly as good... still, if I'm shooting in the snow/
    • Although it's a compact lens, it still makes the a6000 look like a bandaid on the back of it.
    • Great camera and lens to start out with, and easy to build on
    • The quality is absolutely superb however I am using top quality lens with it.
    • Solidly built, well-balanced, and customizable, its only drawback is the poor 16-50mm kit lens
    • It's a really crisp kit lens for all but the most demanding professional uses
    • and I'm enjoying manual focus on older/vintage (dirt cheap) nikkor lens.
    • Specifically I wish Sony would design one really good small, light weight, mid-range zoom lens for the A6000 camera
    • I used the kit lens and admit that perhaps focusing could be more accurate with a decent lens
    • THe lens makes an awful grinding noise which is rocorded on the movies.
    • When I switched the camera on, the lens made a strange noise and then a message came on the screen saying that the lens was not connected properly
    • It’s not a superb lens, but I have no complaints about it
    • With the proper lens it can get you truly stunning photos that can be used professionally.
    • Though I plan to upgrade to a strong fixed lens soon
    • but I promise you at some point the lens will stop working and you will NOT be able to take any pictures.
    • The time-out that would have retracted the lens and kept it from wedging between my hip bone and the turnstile as I went through
    • The lens is perfect
    • By far my favorite lens for the
    • The detail captured with a good lens and normal care in how you shoot is pretty amazing
    • It kept coming back to the fact that I already had a zoom lens for the Nex, and the 35mm, 1.8 a good low light lens
    • The lens on this camera does NOT work well!
    • I had no idea how good this lens actually is.
    • I just want to say that if you're looking for a lightweight, easy to use camera (under $1,000 with a good lens) that satisfies even the most discerning photographer's eye - this is the one you'll want to buy
    • With both the 18-55mm lens which I prefer (the earlier 18-55mm lens has the superior manual zoom, and much less distortion than the newer 16-50mm), and the excellent 55-210mm telephoto, the camera now focusses quickly and accurately..
    • I have been very happy with the kit lens as well
    • This lens is amazing.
    • Only buy this camera if you are going to correct the kit lens in post processing or shoot jpegs only.
    • Which is a fine lens but way too big and obvious for a walking-around travel lens, at least for me
    • That's an amazing lens for the price, but it is not stabilized.
    • I don't have a good lens to judge the camera
    • Again, all of this has been with a stock lens (not a great lens, by any means)
    • While a decent starter lens, I think many of the features would be better utilized with a prime lens
    • Lens is fast enough to capture good image even under the low light
    • Light weight, high frame rate(double compared to mirrored) extremely fast focusing, built in stabilizing that's unreal, German lens with Japanese brains
    • (I had the bundle that included the 55-210 lens as well)
    • I recommend the SEL55210 lens with it for added reach.
    • It's an awesome little, interchangeable lens, mirrorless camera with a large APS-C size sensor
    • I do not like the kits lens to much
    • Beautiful performing lens for street photography.
    • The basic lens is limited in terms of the scope of photography but it has taken excellent basic landscape and people photography
    • I was very foolish to spend this money on the camera and not a new lens for the Nikon
    • My favorite lens, the one that's usually on the camera, is the Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS
    • Add the Sony 50mm f1.8 OSS for an incredible portrait lens, and the Sony 10-18mm f4 OSS for a great wide-angle lens, and you have a really great kit
    • That's because the kit I received had a defective lens, and I wasn't able to really take any pictures with it
    • Nice lens too
    • The lens stopped working in a year.
    • I'd love to see what they could come up with for a nicer long zoom lens.
    • The 16-50mm lens is a compact lens that extends when the camera is powered on.
    • As a side light, the 70-200mm f/4 lens is really a super lens, tack sharp and very fast to focus.
    • Perhaps with a better lens it will win me back.
    • a7r so I have nice lens to compliment this camera.
    • Before start looking for a much better quality lens, try the kit lens and see if it is worth spending more on a lens that would rarely use
    • I should have purchased it up front with the retractable lens
    • There are a lot of naysayers on the web who say that Sony doesn't have a good lens selection, but the E mount lenses available for this meet my needs.
    • I ended up leaving the 30mm on for most of the time(great lens for $200)
    • but the lens are very expensive.
    • The JPEGS are fine because in camera processing corrected the lens.
    • (Still not sure I made the right decision and only by using one and comparing further with the new lens would answer that.)Overall a great camera for the price and pictures will be amazing if you have the right lens.
    • The 50 prime is an awesome portrait lens, and takes pictures almost on par with Zeiss, but stabilized.
    • I own only L lenses as well as the well renowned Sigma 35 f1.4
    • , L lenses even more so, so as much as I love to use it when I go out with sole intention of taking pictures, those are not really handy to carry around for anything else
    • To make matters worse, I purchased an Arca-Swiss-compatible L bracket.
    • you can get extremely high quality photos for the cost of the cheapest L pro zoom lens (70-200 f4)
    • There are some good YouTube videos as well as a good e-book by Gary Friedman (http://www.friedmanarchives.com/alpha6000/index.htm)
    • This is one of my two favorite E-mount lenses.
    • The fastest e mount or fe mount constant aperture zoom available from any manufacturer is currently f4.0.
    • There are a lot of naysayers on the web who say that Sony doesn't have a good lens selection, but the E mount lenses available for this meet my needs.
    • For now I rely on the fast and clear E-mount Sigma 30mm prime that works perfectly w/ the camera.
