Also, as some have pointed out, the unit seems rather flimsy -- unless something breaks on it, I don't know if that's a legitimate criticism but it doesn't inspire confidence, particularly given how poorly nearly everything else works

I have bought this unit as a Region Free but just for the reason that it's region free, Sony charge more than the double price at 499 dollars?I should have returned it before I got rid of the Originaly packed Box

and I have to unplug the unit from the wall so it can work again.

The unit started freezing up (in middle of Netflix or Amazon Video) and wont respond to any commands

Top it all off have had unit for almost a year and it will now not power on

If Quick Start is switched on, the unit occasionally freezes

When streaming movies from Netflix or Amazon, the unit will freeze and the only way to reboot is by disconnecting from power

Biggest issue: Sometimes, the unit does not shut off when commanded.

I was tentative about purchasing this unit after reading about so many lockup issues, but decided to take a chance anyway.

After paying a somewhat premium price, I started to call Amazon and return it as a defective unit but decided to place a 1/16" rubber pad under one of the feet to stabilize the player and connected the unit to my system to see how it performed first
