Based on my previous experience with Sony as well as the number of good reviews,I purchased this unit to replace my 23 year old Sony five disc changer which has finally died.

Some people apparently have had no problems, but with so many negative reviews on this model, Sony must really rethink their approach to this product's quality

I kept coming back to this model, but some of the negative reviews made me leery.

All machines had many negative reviews, however, which surprised and dismayed me since the three I owned (TEAC, Toshiba & Technics) had all been mostly trouble free

Bought this cd player, based on good reviews.

After a decade or so, our Magnavox CD changer decided to go kaput, saw the good reviews, not to mention the very reasonable price, hard to beat, plus free shipping--add to that the name "SONY," and we took the plunge

The relatively poor reviews on the Onkyo & Denon models make them suspect also.

I saw some bad reviews and some good ones and thought I'd play the odds.

I will say though, I've ordered a great deal from Amazon over the years and 98% of what I've received has been perfect despite other's negative reviews/experiences.

If it seems that virtually every item you look at has some bad reviews, tht is because of supply side economics where the huge international mega-corporations have cut quality control to increase profits.

If I turn into a disgruntled I'll let you know.

It does a great job of playing discs that are slightly scratched, burned on my computer (with some tracks ripped from my CDs and other tracks digitized from my vinyl records using ION USB turntable and Audacity S/W).
