The Sony is noisy and slow, but not too much different from JVC

So far, the Sony has been rock solid reliable.

Bought this with the sony receiver they both have exceeded the my expectations. .

It's also nice to know that if I upgrade my amplifier system to newer technology, this Sony has optical capabilities, so hopefully I wouldn't have to replace my entire system

The price was great and the service was fast on a great product (sony).

Super Sony CD player

Improved version of my older Sony CD changer which finally died - optical output lets me use the fancy DACs in my receiver, and can toggle power with remote.

This replaced my old Sony CD player/recorder... which, after well over a decade of service, succumbed to broken drive belts

Can't say anything about their durability as of yet but as far as the sound was concerned, I ran both the Onkyo and the Yamaha CD-S300BL (which has the same guts as the carousel version) side by side and they blew the Sony out of the room

Of the two less expensive this Sony looked like the best selection with better performance than the TEAC and a lower price than the Onkyo and Denon models which had similar poor performance ratings

Fit and finish are typical Sony, meaning great

The shuffle option the Sony is a bit awkward, and the front control panel is hard to see.

I wanted a fairly inexpensive Sony or Yamaha CD player with a 5-changer carousel or similar, and the Yamahas all were way too expensive no matter what site I went on

It looks like Sony is phasing out of the CD player business since you can't find them in any of the electronics chains

Sony makes a wonderful product and I'm happy with it, but it loses 1 star because they have all the controls the same color as the machine which makes it very difficult to see
