• Reviews around light (3.50 of 5)

Sony CFDG700CP Xplod Portable CD Radio Cassette Recorder Boombox Speaker System (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

    • The first time you turn it on you'll see the glowing red light around the sub and think this is one of the coolest "boomboxes" you've ever seen
    • Rich, BIG bass; loud and clean sound; built-in sound presets; auxiliary jack for connecting MP3 players or other audio devices; comes with remote control; big, solid feel; circular red LED light around the bass driver is neatThe CONS
    • The circular LED light around the bass driver is neat looking and brightness indicates the woofer level
    • Tiny LCD display is hard to read; archaic mechanical cassette controls; circular red LED light always on with woofer in use; heavy with batteries; would like a user adjustable sound control; CD mechanism didn't lastLooking for a battery powered 'portable radio' with a big voice
    • You might need to cover it with a shirt because the red light is distracting
    • It's got good sound quality and some cool lighting, but it's big and bulky.
    • But it does have a really bright red light around the subwoofer to show it off
    • Also like the mp3 input jack and its location near the bottom of the unit (set the Ipod next to the boombox on the table). The red light around the woofer is bright, but I think it looks kind of cools, especially at night
    • The red light around the woofer was also complained about
    • The red light also got brighter.
    • My chief complaints are the previously mentioned clunky mechanical cassette controls that cannot be operated with the remote control (yes, I understand that cassettes are passe but the controls are still so last century), and the wrist watch-sized LCD display that is hard to read without ample lighting and good vision (an illuminated background or characters would have really helped)
    • Very hard to see in bright light, and at a poor angle to read.

    • I don't quite understand the purpose of the bright red light on the subwoofer

    • Pros are powerful sub and red light for display.
    • It has survived rain storms and beach parties and general abuse for quite a while...can be used as a computer's sound system as well..plugs into an MP3 player also....had to review this because it rocks so hard...very cool neon light works as a nightlight
    • The only problem I have with it is the red light around the subwoffer
    • I love the mood lights on it too.
    • Love the sound & lights but boombox is heavy.
    • Sturdy (I carry it outside when I work in the garden.
    • it's like...laughable H U G E
