The camera is excellent it has a great lens Zeiss/Vario Tessar , this Zeiss lens is world renown in photography

What you get is a fantastic small lens and a great sensor in a camera that takes really high quality photos under many, if not most, conditions.

The zoom lens is nice, but can make far- off scenes a bit fuzzy.

I just don't understand how Sony managed to smudge this lens's reputation so badly by installing it in this particular model

I cleaned the lens several times - with the same stuff I clean my professional lenses with - and nothing got the dust out

I can see myself carrying this everywhere, its so very compact and light, and photos are significantly better than my Nokia 920 cellphone can do, and its got a nice wide angle lens to capture scenery etc, better that a cellphone cam.

Personally, I prefer a bit larger camear with viewfinder and articulating screen with a larger sensor and faster lens (I'm picky), but for a basic take-anywhere camera... I would definitely put this on the "must check it out" list.

(The lens wobble is noticeable when the camera is closed; it doesn't affect the quality of the photos.

The advantage of the Canon over the Sony is the lens retracts completely into the camera body flat whereas the Sony lens protrudes a little bit even when the lens is retracted and closed
