I found 5 areas where the Sony was superior.

 I replaced my GoPro Hero 3 with the Sony HDR-AS100VR POV because the Sony has some crucial features and benefits the GoPro lacks

So, brilliant SONY makes a new flat door AKA-RD1A but sells it again (not for free if you have already paid for the useless housing)

Forget the junky Sony software

All live action monitoring or playback is done on the included Live View Remote or on a device like your smartphone with the free Sony PlayMemories app installed

Great job sony!

Sony, in their infinite, um, wisdom has included a flash card slot that's intended for two different formats

However, Sony has biggest horsepower in camera tech space and is leading the way in the high-end mirror-less DSLR market.

I continue to hope that Sony can make it impossible to do such a feat, but alas, they have not.

The Sony clunky interface is alive and well

The sony play memories app for your phone will work better

If you think about it, Sony has been making stabilized cameras for years and years.

Oh and Sony's Customer Support department kinda sucks because they are very, very hard to reach.

The free Sony PlayMemories software (download from the Sony site) is completely useless for anything, and does not help you manage the photos on the camera, so that is not an alternative for managing and deleting videos

The Sony's have an advantage to GoPro with in camera stabilization

It is amazing to watch as these titans; the GoPro organization topping a billion dollars in sales, as well as the huge Sony Corporation vying to champion this space in the action camera market

I was also surprised by how well Sony's software worked

i tried the go pro and the sony i would say i loved the sony

and I personally prefer the sony because of the colors, the handling and the noise levels in the recordings

My friends GOPro's are all earthquake cams on bumpy roads while my sony is smooth

Sony outdid themselves with their Action Video

Obviously, Sony sabotaged the app so that we'd be forced to spend another $150 for their live-view wireless remote.

Also the quality is wonderful, the only disadvantage is that you are required to free Sony software to download videos and edit it on the computer

Add Sony's image sensor, image stabilization, and splashproof ability (without the need of an extra case) and it blows the "industry leader" out of the water

Sony takes the gold with quite a bit less noise

The Sony AS100VR was the clear winner when compared to the latest GoPro

Sony got it right with this cam

But it's pretty annoying - Sony could easily have installed a hardened Gorilla Glass type of lens into the case

I say pretty easy but would caveat that Sony could do some improvement to their interface and their knack for using sometimes confusing symbols instead of text and some unnatural menu structures

Otherwise, wait until Sony fixes this problem, which will probably be never since they want us to buy their wireless remote instead of using our own smartphone.

I've bought this little action cam mainly for underwater activities, with the proper Sony MPK AS3 housing

I have been using them for a few years now and to be honest, this little Sony is the best for my money

Does Sony have a GoPro killer on their hands

I will punish SONY by not buying anything else from this company for the rest of my life

Sony clearly has better video than GoPro (I realize my GoPro is not the newest, but based on the reviews and videos I've seen the Sony simply is better)
