bad connection out of the box returned same day , want for kids plane ride , but they suck

Obviously some sort of bad connection.

Unfortunately after about a year the connections from the wire to the headphone jack started to fall apart and the sound started to get staticky

There is a slight distortion in noise when the cable plug is adjusted in the audio port, so keep that in mind as it's a sign of poor cable connection - you may experience audio shortages in the future after too much wear.

We had earbuds but they were uncomfortable and sometimes the connection wasn't good

The connection to my MP3 player keeps coming loose, and this didn't happen with my previous phones, and also doesn't happen with the larger NC phones I use on flights

The mic will not work with a laptop or other computer, it's made for a small triple right connection like in a Cell Phone (look at the plug to see all 3 rings)

Right connections for iPhone 5s and Asus tablet and only one of my laptops.

Now the bad news, I've had the Headphones approximately two months and the connection through the plug has gone south

nice and cushiony sometimes connection goes out
