then I suggest to just by a region free dvd player rather than a more expensive region free blu ray player

What I got was a BDP-S1500 with a sticker over the model number indicating it was "region free 110-240 dual voltage".

Have had bad luck in the distant past with so-called region free players

Instead most Amazon sellers were selling region free or All Region ABC blu ray discs as a region B disc.

Played Region 3 immediately; and no problem when switched to a Region 1 disc

If you have ever accidentally ordered a movie that wasn't in the right region and been frustrated or in my case have a unique taste for foreign cinema, then you owe it to yourself to check out this DVD player

Anyway it seems that most British blu ray films are multi region or region free now days so with a regular US blu ray player you can just buy region free blu rays.

So i have had this for a year trying everything to get the region free part to work (it was the only reason i payed $150+ for it... and everyhing i was told to do doesnt work

The "Region Free" modification is done in hardware so updating the software should not result in loss of the "Region Free" capability

The pop up screen said the region was not compatible with this player

Only and not region free blu-ray player.
