There are many amazing features

It has extremely good automatic features for the novice (like me) but also features many manual options for the more experienced photographer

For photographers, there are cool features such as DMF focus (much like autofocus with full time manual override), AEL lock can be set to the center button, etc

One of the best features is the pop up flash which can be tilted backward (you have to manual hold it in place) for bounce flash

The lens is slow at the telephoto end but this allows to keep the size of the camera truly pocket-able - a very important feature

The HX5V didn't even have B&W and Sepia for photos, so this is a welcome feature that should have been available as on many other cameras, such as Canon and Panasonic

One of the nice features is when you click the dial for different settings, it displays a quick explanation on the screen of what that setting is good for.
