Sony SEL50F18 50mm f/1.8 Lens for Sony E Mount Nex Cameras (Black) - Fixed

    • Very lightweight and the focus is phenomenal
    • While it's not the same as having a Zeiss or high-end L-series lens on the camera, I've definitely been impressed with the sharp focus and pleasant depth-of-field
    • Besides the slow focus speed, I'm very happy with the result.
    • awesome prime lens. very quick focus and large aperture settings
    • Fast focusing and with a 35mm equivalent of 75mm is perfect for the type of street photography I do.
    • The Nikkor for all it's shortcomings, has a wonderful focus ring that only takes less than half a turn from near to far, and yet is perfectly able to fine focus
    • It is lightweight, small footprint, sharp, fast on focus, has wide aperture that permits great amount of light, has image stabilization, has silent focus motor, good bokeh and background separation/blurring and best of all -- affordable
    • Super crisp and very fast focus.
    • I don't trust AF-C mode set in Wide area for critical focus
    • Very sharp and very fast focus on my Sony a5100
    • Be sure to disable your focus assist light for fastest focus.
    • Taking a photo with this 50mm prime lens= great focus and a crisp photo
    • It has been an epiphany for me realizing how much of a difference a lens can make - such sharp, crystal clear focus, the shallow depth of field look, Despite its lack of versatility compared to the 16-50mm or 55-210mm that came with the camera, I find myself never wanting to use the other two because the images are noticeably better in ways I can't really
    • This makes it easy to fine tune focus, but pretty impossible to quickly sweep from a near object to one even just a few feet back
    • After a while I began to demand more and I noticed that finding focus was slow....slow for my expectations...and that I know nothing about cameras
    • Overall, I am very impressed by this lens, and there is little reason to shoot older legacy 50mm lenses unless you want to go cheap, just like manual focus, or like the character of a particular older lens.
    • Focus is fast and accurate even in low light with a6300.
    • It is lightweight, small footprint, sharp, fast on focus, has wide aperture that permits great amount of light, has image stabilization, has silent focus motor, good bokeh and background separation/blurring and best of all -- affordable
    • My only complaint: I often lock down my focus and then switch off AF
    • In combination with using DMF focus on low contast/dark lighting, this lens is just beautiful.
    • I got a lot of missed focus shots with legacy lenses on the NEX
    • It doesn't compare to the tactile feel a mechanical manual focus has, like the alpha mount 50 1.4 (with
    • The game action is fast so focusing can be a challenge especially with bursts
    • On the point of autofocus, I did find one time shooting outdoors that focus is much much much better when using a polariser.
    • I could now get faster, more reliable manual focus
    • The manual focus actually is extremely easy to use on NEX
    • Crisp images with my A7S and a smooth auto focus when I need it
    • Would get 5 if it was really fast focusing
    • It's nearly as sharp as the 24mm 1.8 Zeiss and it's narrower focal length allows for better background defocusing at less than 1/3 the price! With the NEX-6/5R update, the lens now has even faster focusing (please remember that you have to update the camera and the lens beforehand!)
    • Slow focus.
    • Soils nice smooth focus sharp image quality
    • The focus is great, the blurred background happens much easier than with the kit lens
    • Amazing auto focus, great for YouTube bloggers
    • The optical performance of this lens is astounding, the only real drawback is the longitudinal CA (magenta/green fringing in the out of focus areas), which also leads to purple fringing.
    • The light doesn't work well with this lens and actually makes focus less reliable and slower.
    • Great lens, fast auto-focus, perfect for many different kinds of shoots
    • the Sony is better, at 4.5 the Canon's IQ wins by a small margin but depending on your personal skills (mine are not that good)the manual focus on the Canon is harder to nail and it does not have stabilization
    • Love this lens--I skirted around getting a 50 mm because I didn't want another fixed lens, however, I was convinced by the f-stop (not as good as some 50mm lenses out there, but very nice nonetheless).
    • The f/1.8 captures amazing images, and for
