I got to thinking, in order to be fair and give Sony the benefit of the doubt, I had failed to consider in my first test run and review, that the short battery life might have been the victim of running the "light show" on the speaker, the whole time that it was playing loud music

Now that I have accessed it (via info from the online manual), it looks like quite a fun feature to me, especially for young, and active, or older rock gods and goddesses who like their Rock music like me, enabling the user to actually hit the speaker in several places on its body to get different sounds

While this is fine music, it's not so great for normal speech

The obvious benefit is the portability, which allows the user to take it anywhere in the home and enjoying their music off their electronic device.

It's lazy, and it ruins anything but a subset of popular music with no complexity to lose in the first place

Overall this is a great solution for portable music/sound at a pretty decent price-point.

All said, I would recommend this speaker for youngsters that don't know the difference between good sounding music and mediocre

If the music is even moderately loud, the tapping and hitting registers enough to trip the lights, but the playing of the music apparently overrides the party booster action.

Oh, the free downloadable Sony Music Center app is less than stellar, but really isn't required to get the most from the SRS-XB21For the money, this is a great sounding, long-lasting Bluetooth speaker

It fills the room with sound and it can be turned up really loud (which is just the way I like my music!)

We love music in our house and this speaker feels like an experience itself

It can easily fit in a backpack or purse and can just as easily be set on the corner of a desk or in a room and fill the space with great sound quality music.
