Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Industry Leading Noise Canceling Overhead Headphones with Mic for Phone-Call and Alexa Voice Control, Silver

    • For those like me that absolutely loved this feature, know that the XM4s does not have it
    • Ultimately, the sound is great (after performing a software update) but the interface and available features leave a lot to be desired
    • I love these headphones for their amazing sound quality and features
    • Is it really a hard feature to put on headphones that costs $350?6
    • Excellent sound quality and noise cancellation feature
    • I'll miss that feature with my v2s.
    • The only useful feature is the two connections, which is new to the XM4's
    • Great sounding, great noise canceling, amazing features, a plethora of features, and lovely build
    • The smart features are something of a mixed bag, but a few tweaks in the settings in the app improved things
    • Too many features made simple tasks like pairing difficult.
    • Final minor grievance (for now) is this adaptive sound control feature that Sony got me to try out
    • The comfort, sound equalizer, and other smart features make these a no brainer
    • Love the added features that the XM3s fell short on
    • On positive note, the sound is good, and some features are good as well
    • The features are great since you don’t even need to remove them from your head
    • This also makes the lovely feature of being able to connect to both your computer and phone at the same time less valuable
    • All in all, I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't so reliant on the app to get the features going and/or more resilient to being dropped
    • Multi device pairing works flawlessly, essential feature if you use your laptop and still want to get calls or watch media on your phone while still using the headphones
    • Good sound and features.
    • The combination of high quality Bluetooth codecs, great sound, improved noise cancelling, good battery life, and smart features like autopause and Bluetooth multipoint makes these the best all-around option for most people
    • The 1000XM4's noise cancellation is ridiculously good and I like the smart feature where the music stops if you take the headphones off
    • In my opinion the most important feature of any brand of headphones is the quality of sound.
    • You can turn all the "features" off and I would recommend it
    • Additionally, after significant use, the touch controls are a nice feature but not ideal under some circumstances
    • The previous version of this headphones (i.e. XM3) had amazing sound, but lack this important feature of connecting to different devices
    • I used the Apple app and enjoyed the extra features like the ability to connect to two devices and switch between them, turn-off NC, adjust the sound profile to my
    • Speak to chat is a cool feature but it also means I can’t karaoke along with my songs when I have this feature on
    • The headphones have very accessible features and the Bluetooth is quite strong
    • Hover your hand to talk or speak to stop the music is just useless features
    • This feature can be disabled in the app, and set to different times in terms of when to turn off
    • The new features are nice.
    • The previous version of this headphones (i.e. XM3) had amazing sound, but lack this important feature of connecting to different devices
    • The headphones look exactly the same, they have no meaningful features, and the button layout is outdated (why do i have to press and hold for 5 seconds to turn on and off headphones?)
    • Additionally, after significant use, the touch controls are a nice feature but not ideal under some circumstances
    • I haven't found the wearing detection feature useful or for it to work very well.
    • You also can turn the feature off if you prefer
    • Great sound, comfortable fit, and a lot of useful features
    • I can disable this feature in the app
    • In my opinion, this feature isn't really worth it for music.
    • I tried different noise cancellation headphones, like skull candy, bose, this one has an excellent noise cancellation feature, along with that the headphones app is really good where we can customize the sound
    • These are great headphones but sometimes all the features with ambient sound are annoying.
    • One of my favorite features is being able to cover the right ear with your hand and it will immediately lower the volume so you can have a conversation with someone and it will return back to regular volume immediately once you stop covering it
    • The feature to connect to two devices at once is a really great idea and when it works, it's awesome.
    • Dual device connection is a fantastic feature and the implementation is excellent
    • Buy for “cool features
    • Some nice little features added, but nothing earth shattering.
    • My favorite feature on the new version is the automatic pause when someone starts talking
    • There are some cool new features that makes these more convenient also
    • There is an app for additional settings which is a handy feature
    • Other features - I really like the feature that lets you temporarily disable noise cancellation and cut the volume way down by covering the right ear cup with your hand.
    • Here are some great features which are missing in XM3:- Multiple device connection: I use these with my laptop and phone at same time- Speak to chat: It automatically pauses the music when I start speaking, This feature is
    • Great sounding, great noise canceling, amazing features, a plethora of features, and lovely build
    • A user-friendly feature is a quick guide insert in the case that serves as a reminder of how to fold the earphones and operate the controls—and the neutral matte silver color is a good change from the usual black
    • But not at the current price, and not given how inconsistently they functioned across an android phone, a PC and a laptop, on each of which various basic features like audio playback and voice recording/phone calls did not work consistently.
    • Some really cool features, and all controlable from the app.
    • Oh and it looks like you can hold two or 3 fingers down on the touch pad to toggle that stupid live chat feature thing
    • Tested on a plane recently; the feature where you can cover one side and have it amplify ambient sounds without hitting pause is really cool
    • The Sonys have a mode in which you can use the integrated microphones and speakers to amplify ambient sounds (like the AirPod's transparency mode), which is a great feature upgrade
    • Also, some features are nice, but other are annoying
    • More Chrisp background sounds as well as several new small features make it a very good upgrade should you have the money.
    • I really like the smart features to turn down the music when something important is happening.
    • I also *love* the smart pause feature, wherein taking the headphones off automatically pauses the music
    • In addition to all the great features you already know about, these are also by far the most comfortable long-wearing headphones ever.
    • is, by far, the best feature
    • These headphones have some very annoying features that almost ruin them for me, if you even cough or whisper your sound stops
    • To be fair, they do not have many of the fancy features of other headphones in this price range (and they don't come with an app, which is fine by me), and the ANC isn't quite as effective as the Sony's
    • Surround Sound was one of my favorite features on the headphones, I used different presets for different genres of music
    • This is a nice feature and works
    • it is full of stupid features and lack base features
    • whatever was available to watch in comparison on utube, i prolly watched most of em.the top feature is the Active Noise Cancellation and
    • No real problems here though, I can always just use my phone to pause the music and just lift an ear cup off to hear someone, so I do not need these extra features on this headphone set, but it's always nice when it works
    • Had to disable that feature for the remainder of the meeting
    • To me, it seems the majority of the money for this pair went into the fancy features and not to the sound quality
    • The ability to pair numerous devices is incredible and my favorite feature about them
    • – love this feature
    • Bonus!!USB-C charging instead of Micro-USB is superb, I am very much enjoying the rapid charge feature and since I plan on having these for a long time, the port is a sturdy one that will take many many many plugging/unpluggings
    • But the feature itself works quite well, and ability to temporarily turn it off to talk is quite nice
    • There are also some other nifty features, like the ability to disable noise cancellation for a set amount of time when the headphones recognize that you are speaking (this proved more useful than I expected)
    • is a great NC headphone, as comfort as QC, if not better; the texture is better; fancier features
    • Amazing battery life and features
    • I love the controls with a touch of your finger and the touch to talk is hands down the greatest feature so easy to talk then go back into your own private world again!!!
    • Big missing features: No mic mute button!!
    • Neither the XM3 nor the XM4 figured out that this is a useful and great feature, so they don't do it.
    • Basically all the "features" that are advertised (not sure how many of them were also in the XM3's) are pretty gimmicky
    • The 360 audio feature is kinda hard to comment on.. in the demo within the app, you can clearly hear a pleasant difference (it’s more immersive).
    • There is a cool quick charge feature, where if you charge the headphones for 10 minutes you can get five hours of playback
    • My favorite new features by far though are the ability to finally pair your headphones to more than one device via Bluetooth which allows me to be connected to both a laptop and my phone.
    • Then the adaptive noise canceling feature of these headphones gets rid of most of the remaining outside noise, thereby providing a quiet, isolating listening experience
    • Again, firmware updates might improve this feature
    • This is a great feature, and can be turned on/off in software
    • I cannot understand why these features were not built into the headphone so that everyone could enjoy it anywhere, instead of a limited subset of people relying on a few less popular websites like Tidal, and restricted to a handful of pre-selected songs
    • That’s the most important feature for me since I live in a very noisy environment
    • , we knew multipoint was the missing feature for the mark 3's
    • Sounds profile, app control, comfort, weight, carrying case and the new features are good on this
    • I've purchased too many headphones over the years in search of a pair that has everything I want: fantastic sound quality, lightweight & comfy, and useful features.
    • Is that a purposeful policy, every time to leave out some important feature, to make more money
    • I guess since these are similarly-priced to the XM3s, the decision has to be what is more important...some added features and good battery life, or the presence missing with the lack of a virtual stage presence we see in the XM3s.
    • My favorite features are the really impressive bluetooth range, battery life, and ear phone padding
    • For me the best feature is the ability to pause when the headphone are removed
    • There are several cool features available in the app
    • I swapped out my BT4.0 adapter to a BT5.0 adapter on my desktop and with this, I can get ~20 meter range with my XM4, still not quite as good as the H900N gets with BT4, but acceptable for my uses.- Overall, WH-1000XM4 do not sound much better, in fact at default factory settings, the midrange is a bit muffled and bass response bloated versus older headphones, tweaking Clear Bass setting to
    • The walking detection is annoying as
    • Simply, definitely industry leading (as of late 2020) and makes a world of difference in my listening experience
    • Some guidance: to change the volume, especially lower it, swipe down on the right ear as if you are petting it
    • I can even hear background noises from recordings made in the 70’s and 80’s as well as when artists sing out of tune.
    • The issue with initial syllables getting cut-off appears to be fixed and overall I have reports when using Skype and Zoom from my co-workers is that I now sound as good as (or maybe even a bit better than) other co-workers using Bose NC 700 headphones
    • I really don't like they listed this as
    • Just swiping as if using a smartphone touch screen won’t work right.
    • I'll break down as much as I can below, I don't consider myself an audiophile
    • Physical buttons would probably be an easier U/I but not by much.
    • They work great for alternative & classic rock, small-group jazz, big band, r&b/hh, orchestral music, chamber music, and folk
    • I often mix up L and R and the wonder why my swipes don't work
