For those like me that absolutely loved this feature, know that the XM4s does not have it

Ultimately, the sound is great (after performing a software update) but the interface and available features leave a lot to be desired

The only useful feature is the two connections, which is new to the XM4's

The smart features are something of a mixed bag, but a few tweaks in the settings in the app improved things

Multi device pairing works flawlessly, essential feature if you use your laptop and still want to get calls or watch media on your phone while still using the headphones

The combination of high quality Bluetooth codecs, great sound, improved noise cancelling, good battery life, and smart features like autopause and Bluetooth multipoint makes these the best all-around option for most people

The 1000XM4's noise cancellation is ridiculously good and I like the smart feature where the music stops if you take the headphones off

In my opinion, this feature isn't really worth it for music.

I tried different noise cancellation headphones, like skull candy, bose, this one has an excellent noise cancellation feature, along with that the headphones app is really good where we can customize the sound

These are great headphones but sometimes all the features with ambient sound are annoying.

One of my favorite features is being able to cover the right ear with your hand and it will immediately lower the volume so you can have a conversation with someone and it will return back to regular volume immediately once you stop covering it

The feature to connect to two devices at once is a really great idea and when it works, it's awesome.

But not at the current price, and not given how inconsistently they functioned across an android phone, a PC and a laptop, on each of which various basic features like audio playback and voice recording/phone calls did not work consistently.

Tested on a plane recently; the feature where you can cover one side and have it amplify ambient sounds without hitting pause is really cool

The Sonys have a mode in which you can use the integrated microphones and speakers to amplify ambient sounds (like the AirPod's transparency mode), which is a great feature upgrade

Also, some features are nice, but other are annoying

More Chrisp background sounds as well as several new small features make it a very good upgrade should you have the money.

These headphones have some very annoying features that almost ruin them for me, if you even cough or whisper your sound stops

To be fair, they do not have many of the fancy features of other headphones in this price range (and they don't come with an app, which is fine by me), and the ANC isn't quite as effective as the Sony's

Surround Sound was one of my favorite features on the headphones, I used different presets for different genres of music

Bonus!!USB-C charging instead of Micro-USB is superb, I am very much enjoying the rapid charge feature and since I plan on having these for a long time, the port is a sturdy one that will take many many many plugging/unpluggings

Amazing battery life and features

I love the controls with a touch of your finger and the touch to talk is hands down the greatest feature so easy to talk then go back into your own private world again!!!

Big missing features: No mic mute button!!

Neither the XM3 nor the XM4 figured out that this is a useful and great feature, so they don't do it.

Basically all the "features" that are advertised (not sure how many of them were also in the XM3's) are pretty gimmicky

The 360 audio feature is kinda hard to comment on.. in the demo within the app, you can clearly hear a pleasant difference (it’s more immersive).

There is a cool quick charge feature, where if you charge the headphones for 10 minutes you can get five hours of playback

My favorite new features by far though are the ability to finally pair your headphones to more than one device via Bluetooth which allows me to be connected to both a laptop and my phone.

Then the adaptive noise canceling feature of these headphones gets rid of most of the remaining outside noise, thereby providing a quiet, isolating listening experience

Again, firmware updates might improve this feature

This is a great feature, and can be turned on/off in software

Simply, definitely industry leading (as of late 2020) and makes a world of difference in my listening experience
