I read some reviews that said the ring became loose and no longer allowed this, but that has not been our experience

The ring is surprisingly secure and really makes holding my iPhone 8 Plus a lot easier

Update: after 3 months the ring fell off where it connects to the base

The ring eventually Gabe out and broke right off of the base it was attached to and was broken far beyond repair

The previous ones lasted between a couple of weeks and a few months before the ring lost its holding/standing capacity.

I do like the ring, this is my second one I bought because I gave my black one to my mother, and it lasted me a good few months, have had this white one a few weeks, a month at most, and when I was trying to pull the ring off my case the ring bit actually broke off

This ring supposedly works for cars as well, however the silicon piece is either too big or the ring is too small to fit as the instructions explain, because the “click” never happens, no matter how much pressure you put on it
