This case is exactly what I was looking for: a barely noticeable, matte black, plastic shell that adds grip and protects from scratches and short falls.

Bottom line - after the second scratch, I ordered a different case that has worked well in the past (a Griffin Survivor) - Not as nice looking, but definitely tougher and better designed with a better grip

So, as great as the red case was at protecting my phone, I've ordered a black one to replace it so that I can have the positive grip that I rely upon to keep from almost dropping the phone every time I try to pick it up off my desk

It does have a matte finish but not very grippy which some will like, I personally prefer more of a tacky grip
