Reviews around look (5.00 of 5)

  • When I plugged it in at my gig the other band members faces lit up when the heard the sound and they all thought it was a great looking bass
  • Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a steal!
  • I've always preferred the Jazz bass design when looking for a bass guitar, and when I needed a reasonably priced replacement for my home studio, the 5-string Jazz by Squier was the obvious choice.
  • What is more, I personally think that the instrument is a great-looking bass
  • I would definitely recommend this bass to anyone who wants a great looking/sounding bass at a reasonable price.

Reviews around finish (5.00 of 5)

  • Beautiful fit and finish, looks of a much more expensive bass, Fender level of craftsmanship not Squier "feeling" at all
  • In addition the seller had refinished the neck and fret board to a very fast satin finish in place of the stock vintage gloss
  • The pickguard is sturdy and the chrome knobs and cover have a good finish.
  • The natural maple looks great and the finish on both the neck and body was perfect and very glossy.

Reviews around jazz (5.00 of 5)

  • Add a gator hard shell case and you have a super sweet jazz bass.-EXCELLENT OVERALL QUALITY-EXCELLENT FIT AND FINISH-NO SHARP FRET EDGES-GREAT STOCK DUNCAN DESIGNED PICKUPS
  • The tone is that of an authentic Fender Jazz and the front, or rear, or both, pickup combinations all sound great.
  • The tone is classic Jazz Bass, you can probably find any tone you want with the controls
  • Amazing tone, very close to that of famous J-Bass users such as Geddy Lee, and an extremely versatile range of uses, from practicing to even full time performing
  • The quality is excellent , it has great pickups and it sounds just as good as my Fender custom shop jazz

Reviews around sound (4.49 of 5)

  • Great sound also, and it gets better when you change the original
  • The sound is great, the neck feels good, and I don’t have any frets that buzz
  • At my gig, I used a Fishman Bass pre-amp with it into some gigantic amplifier of unknown vintage and it was a great sound.
  • It's a nice budget bass, sound is very good - has that unmistakable maple jazz sound
  • Unbelievable sound, rich and crisp

Reviews around guitar (4.49 of 5)

  • This is a great value guitar for the non-professional looking for a solid 5 string.
  • What surprises me is how cheap guitars can come out of the factory with such good electronics.
  • You can get all that and active electronics for about the same price, which I did upon aquiring a Dean Edge IV.The Squire is a beautiful guitar
  • Overall, I gave it 4 stars because the body seam was pretty obvious, but aside from that, this guitar is flawless.
  • It was good as a beginner's guitar only because I had to work so much harder to play

Reviews around quality (4.45 of 5)

  • I know that Squier has the reputation of being a bad imitation of a real Fender but this bass is good quality and should last a long, long time
  • I'll eventually replace the electronics to give it a little better quality, but it's a beautiful instrument and sounds great
  • i love this bass from Squire, amazing quality and feels nice on my hands
  • Basically, I'd be 3 weeks without a guitar because of their shoddy quality control.
  • While this is a Squier, the quality is as good as American made Fender guitars.

Reviews around price (4.45 of 5)

  • I've always preferred the Jazz bass design when looking for a bass guitar, and when I needed a reasonably priced replacement for my home studio, the 5-string Jazz by Squier was the obvious choice.
  • I would definitely recommend this bass to anyone who wants a great looking/sounding bass at a reasonable price.
  • I have owned this bass for about 8 months now and can say that this bass is most certainly worth the very inexpensive price tag
  • and the E string buzzes up and down the frets when depressed
  • j bass (my to-go/all time favorite), and the 50s p bass (also my all time favorite)

Reviews around value (4.26 of 5)

  • and the E string buzzes up and down the frets when depressed
  • This is a great value guitar for the non-professional looking for a solid 5 string.
  • I don't think this bass would be a good choice for a beginner's bass but is a great value for someone more experienced who's wanting to explore and experiment with fretless.

Reviews around action (4.03 of 5)

  • The setup was good, stock Fender setup, I like the action a little lower (5/64ths
  • I did notice that it was not set up at all and the action was horrific when I received it
  • I would say that if fortune is shining on you and you don't get a "lemon", and you get it properly setup with good action, you will have gotten an excellent bass for a bargain price
  • Out of the box, the setup was spot-on and the action was great.
  • I was expecting to have to adjust it out of the box to improve the action and playability, but was surprised that it was dynamite right out of the box

Reviews around range (3.86 of 5)

  • and the E string buzzes up and down the frets when depressed
  • Amazing tone, very close to that of famous J-Bass users such as Geddy Lee, and an extremely versatile range of uses, from practicing to even full time performing
  • No grounding issues, no buzz, a nice, round tone with plenty of thump, and an impressive range of sounds available.
  • and you get a good range of tones including dialing out fret noise (if that's what a beginning player wants - I did)
  • Over time I realized their are other great choices which: a) aren't nearly as heavy, b) have more frets and thus greater range, c) have more accessible frets because the point at which the body and neck meet isn't as wide, and d) have faster fretboards because of finish and shape even though we're talking J-basses and not

Reviews around instrument (3.50 of 5)

  • Great sounding bass, I am glad Squier are really a different thing from the awful instruments we had back in the nineties
  • Make no mistake -- it's an inexpensive instrument made in Indonesia, and there are aspects that are sub-par -- but it's highly playable and looks great, and at this price I'm willing to overlook things that don't harm the playability
  • and the E string buzzes up and down the frets when depressed
  • Don't be fooled by the price, you don't need to spend this month's rent on a bass to get an excellent instrument that is well beyond expectations.
  • This is a fantastic instrument, far better than it should be for the price
