The strings were laying on the frets and the frets were very sharp
have several other guitars, got this one for my kids -- and there are several very sharp frets which in my opinion should not have passed quality control

I would recommend in investing in a non-expensive guitar tuner as a result (you can get digital ones that won't break the bank) as you will likely need to tune it quite a bit
