Star Wars: The Old Republic - PC

    • Spent an hour installing and activating the damned thing, answering multiple questions, inserting our address, etc., etc., etc.
    • And thats a good thing
    • It's nice to have the cool shiney thing everyone wants and having the same exact gear just really is disappointing
    • most of the negative things I've commented on here have taken their toll, and the positives are just not enough to keep me here.
    • This category of issues are all at least theoretically solvable over the coming months, but the simple fact that they existed at launch says volumes about the development process the game went through, and it does not give one cause for optimism that they will manage to improve things in a timely manner.3) Fundamental Design IssuesThese are the worst problems because I don't see how you can fix them short of spending another couple years redoing stuff from scratch in a different way
    • If you feel that this is a bad thing then perhaps this is not the game for you
    • These things take time to improve
    • The nice thing about the game is that you really enjoy the story and the process itself
    • It's basically WoW in space, which isn't necessarily a bad thing
    • I'm giving this 4 stars (4.5 if I could) because this seems like a good game and I don't want to hurt the ratings, but I want to join the chant to get Amazon do the right thing here.
    • and you have no choice but to have a "auto renewal" on your care to play the damn thing.
    • Not a good thing for grouping and doing missions and flashpoints
    • Are there any bad things to say about it
    • So let's break things down, from best to worst.- Story, voice acting, cut
    • Sure, it's a lot like WoW, but it's not a bad thing to use some things that work well
    • Unless you are a starwars fan and this is your thing great if not don't bother play something else the game is not worth it
    • 8 people doing their thing should not induce a 2second lag
    • I have read others complain about server queue time and silly things like not being able to sit on chairs
    • The sad thing is, I'd probably deal with it if I could actually play the game, but the servers are down so
    • This is one of the must ridiculous things that i have ever seen for any modern MMO on the market, you can wait in que for some time
    • Just kill things and go is what I do
    • addictive ...only thing i will say and way too many hours spent playing it .... free to play is restrictive
    • This is a good thing
    • It is one thing to do the same raids over and over if they are fun or have purpose, but it loses its luster quickly and becomes the usual (stand on the x, hit the 3 key seven times, then the 5 key times and then stand on spot Y).
    • A gimmick that gets old after you experience the grind of doing essentially the same things in an uninspired world so void of any real effort to make it feel alive.
    • I guess that can be a really good or really bad thing for
    • Well, there is one thing.
    • The voice acting is the usual A list Bioware uses.-The planets are setup where you go fetch this, kill x things and turn
    • This is only one of awesome things you can do
    • addictive ...only thing i will say and way too many hours spent playing it .... free to play is restrictive
    • The only downfall thing that i learned was that plying it on a laptop has a TON of lag
    • This thing is pedantic
    • The quest thing don't bother me as much although it is quite boring
    • But if you have zero patience, and tend to throw a tantrum when things are not perfect, do yourself and your blood pressure a favor by waiting to purchase the game
    • Sometimes the "right thing to do" goes a long way and helps you keep a customer.
    • The last two things that I will mention are just misconceptions that I had going into the game that colored it for me1.
    • If you have issues with the game or your number thing gets lost or dies then plan on being on the phone if your lucky for several hours.2
    • However Guild Wars was lacking in a good narrative and several other things
    • I haven't ever played a game like this and it just brings the best things out of Star Wars and puts them into a MMO made for all people alike
    • Now that is actually a really AWESOME thing about the game
    • A couple neat things with crafting and the "companion" system?
    • WoW gradually added new things, this has a lot of stuff to learn
    • They have a good thing going, and while I'm taking a break from it now - I am sure I will one day pick it up again.
    • They did some neat things with crafting -- you won't find yourself slaving over a hot forge all day making hammers.
    • and they were spouting all the right things about how it would be a rich SW universe with a balance between theme-park and sandbox
    • When BioWare praises its uber-talented writers such things cannot be allowed or forgiven.- Companions have the hardest time getting on the elevators/elevator platforms with you to the point that sometimes if the elevator shaft is deep enough and takes you far enough away from your companion you will get a message that your companion was defeated (dead) and the only way to get them back is to ride back up/down, resurrect them (since you cannot dismiss a dead companion), then dismiss them, get on the elevator, reach your destination and then re-
    • That's a good thing because I picked the game up and was off and running immediately but was hoping that there would be a bit different
    • Simple things like comparing gear for both your companions and yourself is just horrid.
    • All the good things in it I liked are the same things I liked about rift, world of warcraft, everquest and so
    • User InterfaceThe SWTOR user interface and commands/controls are extremely similar to WoW, which I see as a good thing not because I'm any big fan of WoW, but because the WoW system is so familiar to MMO gamers that it is probably the closest thing to an industry standard that there is.
    • But I never had my server crash, nor my client CTD, and I never experienced a quest bugged to the point where I couldn't complete it (good thing too, given how the quests are central to character
    • With creator George Lucas battling dementia and early onset Alzheimers (as evidenced with the quality of the prequel movies), things looked grim for the brand
    • here.*Balance hasn't really been a priority which is a good and bad thing
    • As far as MMO's are concerned, SWTOR has a lot of positive things going for it, and also has a lot of shortcomings.
    • The nice thing about
    • The similarities are in many ways a good thing
    • So yeah, there are some neat things in this game
    • Which is not a bad thing because every class story line is different.
    • The GTN also isn't the easiest thing to use, but it's not too shabby.
    • Without making an occasional dark decision, the player is faced with a character who does the right thing no matter the cost and no matter who is hurt
    • The only bad thing I can say about it is that it is so much
    • To make it worse, some material isn't listed in the correct category so unless you do a Google search or ask in chat, there's a good chance you will completely miss things.
    • Find a picture of Darth Barus and tell me if you think those things on his shoulders look like small canoes to you
    • The nice thing is the main story is structured so that you can play most of it solo if you
    • This is not a bad thing in terms of providing systems that some people will be familiar with, and many of these systems have become the standard way of doing things in MMOGs (because everyone did the same thing)
    • I like many things about the game and dislike a few
    • I think most future buyers might want to know the "bad" things about a game more than the "good" things because it's the bad stuff that throws me right out of the mood, whether it be a movie, book, or video game.
    • cough*. Challenging missions and operations and a crafting system via companions that leaves other MMOs drooling, leting you focus on the important things like missions and storyline
    • Also, apparently it is the dark side thing to ask for money before doing something, and gives the same amount of Dark Side points for committing random murder
    • I however do not feel like I did, and I could not find any reason to hang around in the hope that things magically got better
    • The only thing this game has accomplished is rekindle my love for the now dead SWG.
    • The best thing I can say about this game overall is the story
    • Hopefully in the future patches and expansions, more enjoyable things will be offered
    • What it really boils down to is that this game has huge potential to be the next best thing, but if they don't fix bugs and add some group finding features soon then I am afraid that the game will quickly go Far, Far Away.
    • All of the bad things I've mentioned are easily fixable with some time (3-6 months, not years)
    • is a little lacking right now, but the nice thing about MMO's is that they keep on adding stuff! The companion feature is fun and useful.
    • There are plenty more bugs but the above should be enough for you to decide if such things will enhance or ruin your gaming experience.ii
    • One of the most amazing things about this game, is the fact that it will run on most machines
    • The only thing good about this game is the leveling process, to be exact, taking 1 class to lvl50 and that's it
    • The newest patch coming out in a few days will at least address some of the adjustable UI problems and many other things, however they have steadfastly ignored the faction imbalance
    • There are a lot of cool things about this game.
    • anyways). The next thing you notice will be the distinct lack of other people.
    • The good thing about this tool is that it's easier to get a group but it also makes it easier for people to be A-holes, they can talk trash, ninja loot or just troll
    • I think most future buyers might want to know the "bad" things about a game more than the "good" things because it's the bad stuff that throws me right out of the mood, whether it be a movie, book, or video game.
    • Poor customer support, EA too heavily involved - Believe it or not, people are getting forum accounts and sometimes, entire Origin accounts banned for petty things.
    • Most of your quests will be shared by other classes as well - this is actually a good thing
    • I like many things about the game and dislike a few
    • great! One of my favorite things is that instead of quest-text, all dialog is spoken in cut-scenes, and you can choose your responses which can have various effects, such as opening up additional quests, granting you more money upon completion, gaining light side/dark side points, etc.
    • There are some useless things in the game world left over from BETA which serve no useful purpose but confuse you into thinking that they do, for
    • One of the more frustrating things about this game is the necessity of the devs to make everything re-populate instantly
    • I can see some merit in prohibiting user addons (as a former WoW player, things like Recount and Gearscore pretty much made a sour community even worse), but there needs to be more customization options out of the box.
    • The only good thing about this game is it has more story than any mmo ever but this is a mmo and not a single player game
    • However - as things progress you entered into larger group-based quests with more interesting story-lines and with some make or break decisions that can become quite enjoyable if you continue to take the time to care about your character and the universe
