Even though this provides good protection for your device, I would still suggest a case to protect from scratches just in case, which is no problem since this carrying case seems to fit a 3ds with a clear plastic case just fine.

The good news is you can remove the pocket that the ds goes in and just set it in there, which makes me nervous because if my son opens the case the wrong way then the ds can come falling out
