Tamron Auto Focus 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom Lens with Built In Motor for Nikon Digital SLR (Model A17NII)

    • It's just a bit soft on the far end, but can be adjusted if you shoot in RAW mode.
    • The lens is a bit soft at the larger apertures (I haven't tried smaller ones yet), particularly at the 300mm range
    • The motor is a bit loud but, to have one in a lens of this price is great.
    • and it seems a bit slow to focus
    • In lowish light conditions it hunts quite a bit, and since the focusing is slow, you can lose your shot because of it
    • Those are really the only things this lens is missing, a bit more range and image stability
    • The switch between tele (normal) mode is a bit difficult to do at times, and it sometimes is hard to tell which mode it is in until you try to focus on something and find out you can't and realize you're not in the mode you think you are
    • Bang for the buck...lags a bit but does the job
    • A bit heavy and slow but is a good budget lens.
