Tamron Auto Focus 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom Lens with Built In Motor for Nikon Digital SLR (Model A17NII)

    • The only thing it doesn't have that I wish it did, for the size of the lens is the VR Vibration Reduction
    • AF speed is similar to the Nikon 55-200 VR AF-S lens and VERY accurate in good lighting
    • Fits perfectly into my Nikon camera bagCons:o Trouble getting to auto focus in poor lighto No vibration reduction (VR), so any moderate shake could lead to slightly blurred pictureso
    • The only disadvantage to this lens over the Nikkor lens would be the VR (vibration reduction).
    • The next step up is $400+ which gets you vibration control ("VR" in Nikon speak), but from what I have read, is basically the same optically (the same seems to be true for Nikon's own 70-300mm lens as well)
    • The only thing I could wish for would be a VR (vibration reduction or 'image stabilization') setting (at my age, I experience 'essential tremor,' which makes holding the camera steady a challenge).
