When I saw the box I was a little surprised with how compact it is, and compared to my Tamron 70-200/2.8 VC (one of the finest zooms I've ever used), it's not too big or heavy.

It is a little heavier but the extra zoom makes it worth it

After an exhaustive search for a super zoom, but not willing to fork over multiple thousands of dollars for the Nikon 200-400 f/2.8, I opted for this Tamron.

400-600mm is a lovely zoom range.
