To me its NC effect is close to the Tao Tronics: when putting on, it sounds very much like the mere passive noise canceling effect: I do notice a difference, but not that the world gets cleared up

It'll take out mild white noise in your environment like a fan or HVAC noise, but voices come through without much reduction.
