I am going to be recording a book and CDs and this product which was recommended to me by someone who is a very knowledgeable recording techie.
-
This has superior recording capability and features for between $150 and $200 (depending on rebates, deals, etc).

This is great for unplugged busking situations where you'd like a monitor and recording of your set (note the smaller TASCAM recorder is actually better suited for the live monitor purpose because it tucks away in a shirt better)
-
This is in its simplest form a portable recording studio, sure some might argue that in order to capture true fidelity you need thousands of dollars/pounds worth of equipment.
-
(sound was immaculate) and I've recorded many interviews (catches a lot of vocal nuance, the right frequencies), my friends' bands play, but I guess the catalyst for this interview was my last short film
-
indeed! To end it provides faultless recording quality, is easy to use, very clear to view settings and recording levels and has excellent functions others do not have
-
Great quality recording, which could be good or bad.
-
My first recording device that actually works
-
It also has the awesome dual mode recording, that has honestly saved my audio more than once

We have more expensive larger recording systems, but this one fits in the palm of your hands and has a long battery life
-
it was time to start capturing a decent recording
-
For the price, I can't think of a better recording solution

Perfect basic recording device... easy enough for a child to use

I can appreciate the difference in the two recording modes available, close and wide-field stereo, and can see application for both modes

Nice unit with some very desirable options (switchable microphones; XLR inputs, phantom power, dual recording).
-
It basically created a faithful recording of what we were doing and allowed us to hear back our practice clearly so that we can refine our songwriting

High quality entry level portable audio recording
-
What a fabulous recording, and on a 16 GB SD card
-
The recording is clean and accurate.

Incredible recording quality, with twin track recording to avoid blown out sound at concerts.

How ever after testing it many times, either the built in condenser microphones or using external AT897-Audio Technica shotgun condenser mic, both of them return excellent recording sounds
-
Definitely won't replace a DAW, but it's a fantastic mobile recording solution.
-
It will stand a fall or two, -mine did, it actually kept recording the event as well- and will deliver awesome quality
-
The menu system takes a little getting used to, and exploring to discover all the options, but simple recording is very straightforward

Up until that point, the DR-40 recorded lovely sound and was easy to use

The internal mics are excellent, and they alone can get a very solid stereo recording.

You have cell phones near you, then you get various little noises that do disrupt your recording
-
Excellent recording quality, but the auto record has not been dependable
-
Solidly built with exceptional sound recording quality and playback is easy

A recent recording of a live opera that I made with the DR-40 is the best such recording I've ever had the pleasure of hearing.

But again it is a great recording product and useful in all situations.

I read the instructions, and tried several times to get a decent recording, with no success

Hit the 'Record' button to go into standby mode (it blinks red) and hit it again to begin recording (steady red)

Tight on cash and in need of a better recording

can and will do anyone justice who is looking for the portable digital recording solution, if used right (room/equipment/mics).Side by side, this has to be the best purchase along with the PMP6000, to say that we are extremely pleased would not do this device justice
-
If that cell phone is on, even on vibrate, the sound the phone makes by itself could potentially ruin the recording anyways
-
Found out from audio tech friends (after the fact) that this is a known issue, and cannot figure out why a recording device incapable of clean audio is being sold
-
’s mixer and get good audio recording.
-
Fantastic device for portable recording or podcasting
-
The case as many others will tell you is not as solid feeling as others since its plastic, but who cares when it delivers a great recording.
-
This recorder is good but it is good for loud recording, or high gain output from what you
-
Brilliant recording quality
-
That is nice when a good quality recording is desired, condenser mics are the best tool for the occasion, and there isn't time or utility for setting up outboard gear.

It's enough to let you verify that your recording is working, but beyond that, it's almost totally useless.2

This is a great quality recording for the price.

I have been using MiniDiscs for portable recording for years, and this is much easier to use for on-unit editing such as splitting and renaming files, and moving from track to track is a breeze compared to an MD recorder.

I realized I would need an external audio recorder that had XLR inputs and phantom power for hooking up my Behringer C-2 microphones (small and easy to work with in the field)
