    Terk Indoor AM Antenna ADVANTAGE

    • The TERK works especially well with small cheap radios, often boosting their reception remarkably!NOTE: Many people are tempted to try loop antennas at night when distant AM signals are already typically strong
    • Finally broke down and took a chance with the Advantage because that's what ccrane sells, the grandaddy of AM radios
    • I now have excellent AM reception for my favorite talk radio station that I was previously only able to listen to from my car, clock radio and from the Internet.
    • even cheap little walmart radios bring in the station better than my expensive
    • After considerable experimentation with three (3) portable radios,( GE SuperRadio II,F - GladdingCyclone Multiband with Direction Finder - Nexxtech, Radio Receiver) - the best reception was achieved by direct connection to the radio, when direct was available
    • The Sangean portable DT400, which is a pretty good radio to begin with, had a noticeable improvement, My Aiwa which had poor reception( I use it in my basement for FM
    • This tuned loop antenna is an excellent choice for radios that lack an internal antenna (old radios and many modern AM/FM stereo receivers) or radios that have a mediocre internal antenna
    • For example, one radio had limited improvement and another radio had GREAT improvement
    • It helps my AM radios pull in out of town stations and cleans up the static on local ones
    • I put the radio inside the loop, with a piece of cardboard folded so the radio doesn't bump against the tuning knob
    • With cheap radio, works best with loop antenna at right angle to internal ferrite antenna
    • Portable radios, large shelf receivers, separate tuners
    • It even worked great on a cheap clock radio
    • Even expensive, high-end component tuners and upscale radios did not work well.
    • I use this antenna with an inexpensive clock radio which wasn't getting very good reception on the only station I listen to.
    • "Bose Radio" that this product might improve my AMradio reception.
    • I'm a long ways from radio stations in a hilly area and this noticeably gives better AM radio reception (does NOT work w/ FM radio).
    • Could not be improved upon for even the least expensive radio
    • I read the other reviews that raved about the antenna and was hopeful that I could finally hear AM radio loud and clear.
    • I enjoy am radio for the "old-time gospel music" and "local talk shows"
    • I tried it on one of my small expensive radios with the great sound quality (Boston Acoustics), tuning in a very distant weak signal, but the product only gave a very small improvement.
    • GET GOOD RADIO WITH THIS.
    • My 20-yr-old cheap radio doesn't have antenna outputs, so I followed the instructions to put the antenna close to the radio, and set the tuner dial to the station
    • The AM advantage is a good looking, very helpful antenna that helps dramatically on some radio's and really helps with pinpointing the signal on my better radio's.
    • Massachusetts). The Terk is small enough so that it can sit behind the set unseen (as a modern loop antenna just doesn't look right sitting atop a vintage tombstone radio)--aesthetically much nicer than wire strung around the room
    • Using the Terk in this manner, I was almost always able to get the tuning light to light up and greatly improve the radio's reception
    • Somehow putting radio and loop on a tripod may work best if you're into seriously getting rid of a local interfering station.
    • This deserves more than 5 stars i tried this with my modern and vintage radios really gorgeous result..
    • If your favorite radio station is a little too weak to hear clearly first adjust the radio to the best signal strength you can then use the Terk antenna to make it better
    • After plugging this sucker in and firing up my good old transistor radio, I found that not only could I listen to some classy polka in hi-def sound, but I could also read the thoughts of those near me
    • ideal for small portable radios
    • I purchased this Antenna to receive conservative talk radio that I thought I wasn't receiving, it turned out I was on the wrong frequency
    • PS - in my experience in the UK, the GE Superadio completely outstrips the Sangean radio for station reception - it doesn't have the sleek looks or the digital tuning, but if it's reception you want, get a GE radio.
    • I bought this for my mom's radio and it improved the reception some but not very much
    • Great addition to the RCA Super radio 3
    • Even the GE SUPER RADIO, which is already a very sensitive radio, will deliver improved AM reception with the TERK
    • Too bad satellite radio is sooooo expensive.
    • with the dial, tuning the station on the radio off-peak to the point that you can just barely hear it, then fine-tuning the antenna by ear, then fine-tuning the radio
    • I have tried several portable radios over the years, and I was never able to pick up this station from my office
    • One of my favorite radio stations,WLS 890, in Chicago, which has always had a strong signal, was being "drowned out" by increased static
    • Bought this for use in my very radio unfriendly office.
    • As for progressive radio, it doesn't have the gigantic corporate bucks behind it because they criticize (with good reason) the corporations greedy tactics, policies, monopolies, and collusion, which they fight daily their agenda is to never relinquish an inch just grab more, even though they have it ALL
    • The radio looked beautiful, but with the 15-foot wire antenna supplied with the set, it sounded only fair--lots of noise, even with strong local AM stations
    • It didn't matter how it was located or if it was used with a cheap radio or a high end radio.
    • My radio does not have a plugin to boost the AM signal, but the instructions say that you can place it along side the radio and it will work also
    • For example, one radio had limited improvement and another radio had GREAT improvement
    • For example, one radio had limited improvement and another radio had GREAT improvement
    • It allows me to listen to a marginal AM radio station loud and clear.
    • SOME radios are difficult to interface in this manner
    • I tried this with a RS pocket radio, a Sony ICF-38 which is already a very good radio for AM, and a GE Superadio 1
    • I bought the antenna at the same time I purchased the Sangean table-top wooden radio.
    • My radios, eton 5, st909, and super radio, continued to operate the same on distant stations.
    • I bougt this antenna to use with my Tivoli Audio One table top radio.
    • Finally, I must point out that I have not tried this unit out on a portable radio, so my review may not apply to that situation
    • Used this with a GE Super radio that already gets great reception
    • It also does boost the strength of distant signals, but it is no replacement for a good radio with a ferrite antenna.
    • I like to listen to certain talk shows on AM radio, but live in a mountainous area about 30 miles from a relatively weak radio station
    • My stereo receiver happens to be in a spot that does not have good radio reception for both FM and AM, even though I live relatively close to a metropolitan area
    • but prior it was impossible to hear my favorite radio station at all, and let me say the station is a few miles away but this building blocks any other signals cuz it used to be a bank deposit vault so, is not perfect but at least I can hear it now.
    • I enjoy talk radio on AM station
    • To my surprise I got great radio reception beyond what I expected
    • FM RADIO LED TUNING INDICATOR LG SPKR RADIO
    • Distant AM radio signals come through much more clearly when I place the Terk AM Antenna near any portable or stationery radio inside or outside my house
    • In all honesty, part of the problem (or maybe the entire problem) was the radios that I was using to DX those stations
    • According to the literature, this antenna is should help bring in weak stations that are no more than 50 miles away (and broadcasting in your direction).Keep in mind, this antenna will make a weak AM radio signal stronger
    • Sorry, it's simply a "hit 'n miss" proposition; so save your receipt if your intention is to assist but one defiant radio!EVERY portable and "boom-
    • When placed next to a cheaper portable radio, the AM-1000 Advantage can boost the signal significantly for weaker stations
    • I suspect any radio with the ability to be hard wired would benefit much more than my results
    • If the radio already has a good impedance match, it won't improve it much (Crane CC Radio, GE Superradios).2.
    • ANTENNA severs this progressive well bringing weak progressive radio signals in much stronger
    • When the Indians are moved to FM, I have some pretty decent DX'ing radios and could get the best Youngstown AM station, but not strong and not without interference
    • Unfortunately, its AM tuner weak, falling short of what I would expect from even a modest clock-radio
    • This works wonders, especially with less sensitive radios, like cheap clock radios and pocket-sized radios
    • More powerful local radio stations over ran it
    • If you hear loud buzzing or howling noises when listening to weak signals, you have EMI (defective radio possible, but unlikely)
    • I primarily listened to AM radio during the day on a RCA Super Radio and after a recent move, I could no longer put my radio on the window sill to pick up AM frequencies.
    • Therefore, the TERK was only improving the BOSE radio via wireless
    • The Terk can be used via inductive coupling--that is, with no direct connection to the radio--provided you have a fairly modern AM radio that has an internal antenna
    • I have one on a small Sony portable radio (about 20 years old) and one on a small Tivoli table radio.
    • I found this disappointing given my radio set up, but it may be useful to more peope the way it is
    • My radios included brands such as Sangean, Sony, Aiwa, Pioneer and a new CCrane CC2E. I also tried it with my home Pioneer Stereo system and a cheap bed side clock radio
    • To test the Terk's inductive coupling--that is, to use it wirelessly--I used a small portable Grundig radio that had belonged to my father
    • I was having problems with static and interference on an important radio am radio station
    • This works wonders, especially with less sensitive radios, like cheap clock radios and pocket-sized radios
    • on some of my AM radios - I try to listen to liberal progressive radio on AM
    • ANTENNA severs this progressive well bringing weak progressive radio signals in much stronger
    • I suspect any radio with the ability to be hard wired would benefit much more than my results
    • When placed next to a cheaper portable radio, the AM-1000 Advantage can boost the signal significantly for weaker stations
    • I have used it many times with my short wave portable radios such as the DX-398, my stereo, and my other good radios.
    • I had originally thought that it would be necessary to purchase a new/expensive radio to upgrade the quality of my AM reception.
    • Sorry, it's simply a "hit 'n miss" proposition; so save your receipt if your intention is to assist but one defiant radio!EVERY portable and "boom-
    • If you have a high-end portable radio (usually $150 plus) with an excellent internal antenna, you may not see much improvement; you can't receive signals that do not exist (more about this below). You can use the antenna by connecting it directly to the radio, if the radio has antenna terminals
    • [both the radio and the antenna] to the desired frequency, and your reception will improve markedly.
    • I recently bought the Terk AM Advantage antenna to improve the AM reception on my Tivoli Model Two radio
    • I need it to "plug" in to my Tivoli Model One radio, as well as my Bose Wave radio.
    • So I guess it works as
    • The Terk advantage took a barely understandable and really annoying signal on both the radios I mentioned and brought them in strong enough as to be almost static free
    • Didn't boost my am reception as we had hoped
