    Terk Indoor AM Antenna ADVANTAGE

    • You will enjoy stations you normally could not pull in.
    • Summary: this is quite techy, but useful if you want improved daytime reception from a weak AM station.
    • I now have excellent AM reception for my favorite talk radio station that I was previously only able to listen to from my car, clock radio and from the Internet.
    • I bought this antenna to help with a weak and incredibly staticky AM station that is my only way to follow my favorite basketball team
    • My loop tuner's dial scale was off by a 1/4" from the correct station frequency at times, but I consider this a minor issue not worth deducting a star
    • I got the best results with very weak stations by first setting the antenna to the frequency (say, 560 KHz.
    • The loop is directional (no signal at broadside) and so can be used to null away a local noise source or station; but actually your radio is just as directional by itself.
    • It does not, however, make the weak fringe stations much more listenable--the static is amplified with the signal--but I expected as much from this antenna
    • A year late I bought the Terk AM Advantage, sat it on top of the Tivoli, and my favorite station came in crystal clear! The Tivoli already had really good AM reception, but the Terk really made listening enjoyable
    • I was able to get my father's favorite station to sound clearer than it ever has before, but AM can be pretty touchy
    • WOW, I swithced on my stereo receiver that was already tuned to the static filled AM station I could hardly hear and it about blew out my ear drums.
    • My only complaint is that to hone in on weaker stations, you must turn the antenna's manual dial.
    • The Terk does pull in some weaker stations more strongly, and also reduces static for all stations, sometimes dramatically
    • If you’re trying to pull in very weak stations during the day, then you may be somewhat disappointed when they
    • I'm now able to pick up my favorite AM station which is on the other side of a range of mountains and a couple of hundred miles away
    • The best indoor antenna, I now own two, really improves weak station reception!
    • Literally all I needed to do was turn the knob on the AM Advantage to my weak station's frequency and place it next to my RadioShark to improve reception
    • AM radio reception is always difficult where I live and even "local" stations are difficult or impossible to pick up with out some kind of boost
    • Moved the Terk to the window sill and now it picks up stations from greater distance and local stations are fairly clean from noise.
    • The unit works fairly well at pulling a weak station, better than I expected, but not perfectly for my puposes.
    • My favorite am station is now 100% crystal clear.
    • I bought this to bring in one really bad fringe station.
    • On the Sony which has a tune LED, weak stations that would barely light the LED would start to light it up brightly after dialing in the frequency on the loop
    • On the Sony which has a tune LED, weak stations that would barely light the LED would start to light it up brightly after dialing in the frequency on the loop
    • If your favorite radio station is a little too weak to hear clearly first adjust the radio to the best signal strength you can then use the Terk antenna to make it better
    • On a strong station nearby I noticed no improvement at all and mistuning it had little or no effect
    • I get a few stations fairly well, but my favorite station comes in with a background hum
    • I get a few stations fairly well, but my favorite station comes in with a background hum
    • Although some stations are a little difficult to pull in despite various adjustments, it is an improvement over what I had (in the past none of the weaker stations could be heard).
    • The station is 40 miles away and partly obscured by hills
    • This is small enough to toss in my luggage when going to the mountains or back home, and it really boosts the long-range stations.
    • I live in front of a mountain range and some of my favorite stations came in with too much static with the Terk Indoor antenna the static has been greatly reduced.
    • Yes, you do have to re-tune the antenna for each weak station you want to bring in -- that's how the physics work
    • I know AM signals attenuate and degrade at night, but I expected this antenna, with its ability to tune for a best signal and incorporating the latest technology, to also enhance the AM stations at night
    • Do not expect to pick up weak stations at night
    • Our favorite station is a three hour drive down the coast.
    • So this antenna indeed does me well when I can't get a far off signal very well from an alternative AM station offering a different progressive (for thinking informed aware people, not just the 2% who buy elections and who fool the uninformed, uneducated with their outrageous amount of (now) unlimited) secret corporate donations, contributions & ads that go to 96% republican.(ala Fox republican propaganda, it certainly isn't news, it's just regressives trashing progressive & Dems 24/7)
    • One of my favorite radio stations,WLS 890, in Chicago, which has always had a strong signal, was being "drowned out" by increased static
    • They all showed improvement in either hearable signal strength, less or no noise or hiss, and in the case of the RS, louder volume on weak stations without raising the volume
    • The only downside of the TERK is you have to fine tune each station if you change the station on the stereo but that is a small inconvience for the ability to get "Tuned" stations.
    • I get one Chicago sports station clearer than some New York stations
    • My favorite stations are Canadian (Calgary and Vancouver) but I also hear Seattle, Portland and San Francisco
    • My favorite local AM station was vitually inaudible, with a great deal of hiss and buzzing (odd, because a most other AM stations came in clearly).
    • I decided to bring in my Eton SL350DL and listen to my favorite AM station, 1150 KTLK
    • The radio looked beautiful, but with the 15-foot wire antenna supplied with the set, it sounded only fair--lots of noise, even with strong local AM stations
    • Also the Jim Rome show switched from a very strong station, 610, to 650, where I could barely hear it
    • I support my local NPR station
    • On a different radio, hooked up with the wires, on the same strong station, there was no effect
    • Small pocket radios (like the CC Pocket Radio, Sony $12.00 mass produced, etc.), though excellent in their abilities and purpose, and worthy of purchase again and again, simply cannot always "clearly" pull in the stations that I need to hear (the internal am antenna is too small and needs amplified with a Terk or something like it).For example, last night, from Lancaster, PA, I listened to the MLB world series on 1520 AM with my CC Pocket Radio (sitting inside the Terk), and did not have hardly any fade in or fade out
    • It allows me to listen to a marginal AM radio station loud and clear.
    • After installation I tuned to our favorite AM station and the reception was GREAT.
    • The antenna only brought in four strong local stations connected to my Denon 3313CI AVR
    • I live 25 miles NE of Charlotte NC and was listening to 690 AM from Jacksonville FL (about 400 miles south) at 4:00 PM yesterday like it was a local station; without the TERK there was only static.
    • Although I live within 75 miles of 2 50,000 watt clear-channel stations, they do not come in clear.
    • We live on Lake Champlain north of Burl, VT and it is one of the truly enjoyable stations (except for Public Radio) that I enjoy on a sleepless night
    • I like to listen to certain talk shows on AM radio, but live in a mountainous area about 30 miles from a relatively weak radio station
    • but prior it was impossible to hear my favorite radio station at all, and let me say the station is a few miles away but this building blocks any other signals cuz it used to be a bank deposit vault so, is not perfect but at least I can hear it now.
    • When I place it next to my radio, it not only significantly improves the reception of weak stations, but manages to pull in stations that I didn't even know existed
    • Now I listen to my favorite talk radio station in my office.
    • Switch 'down' I could find weak stations with the radio tuner, switch 'up' I could use the loop tuner to maximize signal strength and minimize noise
    • I tried the wireless method first since that was real easy and noticed it was actually bringing the station in some but not great.
    • If you hear a weak station with static, when using this antenna you will probably hear a strong station with static
    • I can now hear AM stations clearly- no static.
    • I attached the Terk AM-1000 to my stero to bring in a weak station.
    • During evening and early morning weak station sound like local.
    • Have this $&^#(* AM tuner in an expensive preamp, unbelievable, and put up with bad AM reception, even for strong stations, for a year, it came with a stock external antenna, so I didn't think anything else would make an appreciable difference
    • This antenna is not powerful enough to pull in a very weak distant station, but will do a good job of improving reception and cleaning up the signal on local stations
    • On a clock radio, it boosts barely detectable stations to quite usable quality
    • One reviewer complained that he lost some stations at night
    • More powerful local radio stations over ran it
    • I just recently received this antenna, and was amazed at its ability to help null out strong stations and bring in the weaker ones!
    • Using this in the inductive mode( next to a radio) on a weak station at the low end of the AM dial and tuning it to the station, I noted a noticeable improvement in reception
    • I does the job as advertised, pulling in weak stations within the advertised range
    • When the little radio was proximate to the loop, stations came in 2-4 times stronger, and the loop tuning was much more broad -- you could be off by a half-inch or more and still receive the station fine, although it was loudest when tuned to the correct frequency
    • Without it, I was unable to get anything but with this product I can get one of two favorite stations
    • Whether you just want to hear that favorite weak station more clearly or you are interested in chasing weak AM signals, the TERK is definitely a fine performing AM antenna!I love mine!
    • Whether you just want to hear that favorite weak station more clearly or you are interested in chasing weak AM signals, the TERK is definitely a fine performing AM antenna!I love mine!
    • This dial controls a circuit that provides a very sharp 'peak' in the signal strength - it is done this way so that you might be able to pull in a weak station next to a strong one by peaking the weak signal, which weakness the strong signal.
    • Without the Terk, I had so much static and way too many weak stations.
    • Makes weak stations usable
    • I enjoy my radio station so much more now with the clear signal.
    • It took a few more seconds of moving it around to find the sweet spot, and my weakest station was coming in as well as my strongest
    • Without that one set of lights on, my station is perfectly clear and I wouldn't receive it without this antenna.
    • During evening and early morning weak station sound like local.
    • Paul by the way), heard some faint voices coming through, placed the Terk antenna next to the radio, tuned the antenna to the 1500KHz area, and lo and behold there is my favorite station, coming in clean as a whistle (there's a little static but not enough to detract from listening).
    • When placed next to a cheaper portable radio, the AM-1000 Advantage can boost the signal significantly for weaker stations
    • At night when the FCC makes most AM reception useless due to power reductions I was able to receive this same strong station with a lot less fading and distortion
    • If you hear a weak station with static, when using this antenna you will probably hear a strong station with static
    • According to the literature, this antenna is should help bring in weak stations that are no more than 50 miles away (and broadcasting in your direction).Keep in mind, this antenna will make a weak AM radio signal stronger
    • I was able to receive all my favorite AM stations and others that I was not aware of
    • I turned the radio on, tuned it to my favorite station (AM 1500 Mpls/St
    • So I guess it works as
    • The Terk advantage took a barely understandable and really annoying signal on both the radios I mentioned and brought them in strong enough as to be almost static free
    • Didn't boost my am reception as we had hoped
