Signal was always good in Xi'an, Wuhan, Jingzhou, 4 day cruise on Yangtsé river, Chongqing, Shangai, Guilin, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Macao and Hong-Kong

traveled back and forth between Taiwan and mainland a few times with no issues whatsoever - in a few cases, I actually got a better signal than people who had local phone service
