The story progresses from Link's childhood through his adulthood and you will need to clear various temples on your quest to gain the power to defeat Ganondorf

Your first objective is to find three sacred stones that will open the door to the Temple of Time, which holds the Master Sword, known as "The Blade of Evil's Bane"; it is the only thing that can destroy Ganondorf

You must collect (well you don't have to) hearts to keep up your energy, and visit the Great Fairy of Power to get spells that will help you in your journey to defeat Ganondorf and save Hyrule

And then, finally, confront Ganondorf in a final showdown.

He must battle the evil Ganon/Ganondorf to save Hyrule and princess Zelda by using the power of the Triforce

They're still gorgeous (albeit a tad blurry--don't blame the game, blame the Nintendo64!), even next to newer games on newer systems such as the PlayStation2
