She's Always a Woman" is one of his most straightforward pop ballads with it's gentle and sincere delivery.

It covers everything that is Billy which I had mentioned above with it's blues/jazz opening (Bottle of Red) to it's rockabily second section (Things are okay) and going into a sing along ballad (original working title was the Ballad of Brenda and Eddie).

The album then shifts gears with "Just the Way You Are," perhaps Billy Joel's finest ballad (which is saying something).

However, "scenes from an italian restaurant" is probably the highlight of the album, and the beautiful ballad "she's always a woman to me" comes next.

True poetry, one of the great ballads of the 70s', and one of my favorite songs.3

Also, although it has been bludgeoned by many a lounge act and many more Karaoke singers, "Just the way you are" is one of the most romantic ballads of all time, and Joel's own version is still the best (although I am very fond of the versions by Diana Krall Live in Paris and also Barry White Barry White - All-Time
