Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick

    • I am very happy with my purchase, and despite listing several negatives above, the only one that truly bothers me is the noticeable dead zone
    • The "dead zone" or "dead band" is the small range of motion around the center position where the joystick reports no change
    • solid+ Very minor dead zone+ Long cables+ Lots of buttons that can be
    • However when this product I arrived I found it did not have a dead zone
    • The dead zone is pretty good on this stick
    • Passable for it's price, but has blind zones everywhere - even with curving software.
    • Folks using of for some of the spaceship games may not really notice the dead zones
    • When pulling the stick back, it would go about 3/4 of the way, then hit a dead zone, only effectively alowing for 1/4 of the full movement
    • The only real issues are that, as others have mentioned, there are some pretty big dead zones in the center of the control in all axes which makes it difficult to fly in simulation mode without constantly over-correcting.
    • * Large dead zone
    • Battlefield 3 specific: You will definitely want to lookup the config file edit that removes the "dead zone" from the stick, as it makes things feel more responsive
    • The dead zones did not need adjusting unlike my previous Logitech Extreme3D Pro
    • When I fired up my first game I was unimpressed with the way the stick handled and what I thought was a horrible dead zone
    • wow the dead zone is horrid.
    • It's solid and has a nice button layout, but that dead zone can be a problem in some sims.
    • I bump up the sensitivity to the max on everything I use, like my mouse, so I only have to move it an inch to go across the screenThis joystick has a relatively huge dead zone and no software to change it, although on some programs like FSX you have the option to reduce the dead zone, in others, like ARMA, you are stuck with itBut for simply turning or curving at a smooth rate, it does the jobThe throttle works, but is bulky, and after using this, I would buy one with the throttle being a small feature in the joystick stand
    • Throttle's zero thrust dead zone is either extremely small or nonexistent I always seem to be going slightly forward or backward at
    • I thought this joystick would have a dead zone which is a horrible thing to have in video games
    • There is almost no dead zone, idk why people are complaining
    • Additionally, people complain of a "dead zone."
    • Center dead zone is bad on the stick
    • The dead zones are the huge deal breaker for me, i wasn't expecting super precise controls but the centers of the stick and the throttle all have an good cm of travel before windows registers the movement in the Joystick control panel
    • dead zone huge. not good for competitive play
    • Solid build, doesn't feel cheap, minimal dead zones, and has easy setup then this is a prefect choice.
    • The stick has too large a dead zone and then is far to sensitive
    • Bad dead zone, got so mad I threw it away.
    • The stick has a very large mechanical dead zone that cannot be adjusted
    • The main stick has a very large dead zone that you can't seem to work around.
    • The dead zone isn't that bad in my opinion and it's really easy to get used to
    • wow the dead zone is horrid.
    • The throttle is realy bad with more dead-zone and after a month of use the throttle got so loose i.e. not staying in place.i wedged some thin plastic into the sides of the throttles joints to give it more friction
    • Stick has dead zones on all 3 axis
    • , I could have tuned it in the game to decrease the dead zone, but I did not.
    • The dead zone is a real thing.
    • If you're okay with a sizeable dead zone on your joysticks, this controller is otherwise very good, responsive, and feels durable.
    • I've noticed some dead zone on the throttle that's a bit annoying, but none to speak of on the joystick
    • In my case, I found settings for dead zone in the games settings and set it to 0 which resolved the problem I was having
    • Throttle's action isn't great, there are noises that concern me and places where the throttle seems to want to click into place (particularly, the nonexistent dead zone) that it simply doesn'tAll in all, this is probably the best budget HOTAS you can get, but there are reasons why non-budget ones cost more
    • The stick has a larger mechanical dead zone than I would like
    • , it has a large bit of lag or dead zone, and seems it is either all on or off especially the X & Y axis, but this seems to be a game issue I think, as I mentioned earlier the properties test and calibration for the stick itself is very responsive.
    • There is a dead zone but it is relatively small compared to other sticks I've used
    • Throttle has a small dead-zone in the middle making it easy to throttle to zero without accidentally reversing
    • There is some serious dead zone on both controls and the yaw
    • After a month of use though I'm really getting a lot of squeeks and moans from the stick and the thruster developed a bit of a vague "dead zone" 2 weeks into usage.
    • The dead zone is pretty good on this stick
    • I was a little hesitant to get this stick because of the very infamous dead-zone associated with it, however I actually really love this stick
    • The only complaint I personally could give would be that there is a small dead zone around the centered position of the stick, but other than that, it's very responsive, the buttons are easy to reach without having to remove your hands from the controls, and both the throttle and the stick feel great in your hands
    • The dead zone on the yoke is kind of annoying for aircraft with high manuvurability as it is not sensitive enough
    • Regardless of how you set up a dead zone for your throttle, this position has a little too much slack for my tastes
    • This kind of has a large dead play zone.
    • solid+ Very minor dead zone+ Long cables+ Lots of buttons that can be
    • I don't notice any dead zone
    • I don't really have any complaints about the joystick itself, however most of the PS3 games arent going to have any sort of intricate options regarding customization as you would find on the PS3 games..such as adjusting dead zone sensitivity and what not
    • I had a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro before this, and it had a really sloppy dead zone, felt terribly cheap, and the joystick itself was inaccurate
    • Having to look up the separate drivers, and the fact that the stick has a rather large dead zone and is not as sensitive as I like are the reasons I rate this product 4/5
    • Stick: 1.The dead zones on the stick are killer
    • They have added control curves to the game, but there is still a big dead zone on your axis using this setup.
    • Dead zone on the stick is a little large out of the box but that can be compensated with software
    • Nice shape / comfortable grips.- Throttle stick has a nice "catch" zone at 0 value, letting you easily kill your speed without switching into reverse.~ CONS ~- Cheap and noisy plastic construction.- Catchy, inaccurate movement on every axis of the joystick.- Huge deadzones that the configuration software won't fix.- Short cord between the sticks makes fitting a keyboard between pretty difficult
    • There is a considerable "dead zone" along both the X and Y axis, where when you move the joystick in simple circles, the calibration "sticks" to the the X and Y axis, which results in jerky quick movements which results in much frustration
    • In a game that uses forward and reverse, this is a sticky idle zone (stickier than it needs to be).
    • The joystick handles extremely well when it comes to "white-knuckle flying", but for minor adjustments the dead-zone can be quite noticeable
    • The center point where it will click into place has a large dead zone around it making it impossible to get smooth changes of throttle through that band
    • I couldn't find a HOTAS setup anywhere else at this price.- Smooth movement on both throttle and joystickCons:- Small, uncorrectable dead-zone
    • As a general rule, it's worked perfectly for newer, well-known titles, and I've never had any of the problems with dead zones or miscalibration that I've often encountered with other controllers
    • That saidIts dead zones are great, sensitivity good
    • That saidIts dead zones are great, sensitivity good
    • I couldn't find a HOTAS setup anywhere else at this price.- Smooth movement on both throttle and joystickCons:- Small, uncorrectable dead-zone
    • I cannot detect any dead zones at all
    • also, I made sure to calibrate it properly, so that issues with dead zone, play in the movements is the stick itself.
    • My second gripe is that the dead zone on the flight stick is a little to large for my liking.
    • The movement of the stick is very consistent across all ranges, but there is a large dead zone in the center that cannot be reduced in the configuration
    • There is in fact quite a bit of a dead-zone, but I have managed to reduce the dead-zone a little by messing around with the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X calibration tool and the tighten/loosen knob on the underside of the stick
    • The fault with this stick is the huge dead zone
    • There is a huge dead zone and using it has a noticeable
    • This results in you being able to increase the dead zones, but not reduce them
    • The dead zone for the Z-axis is also very large
    • Honestly for the $40 I spent on this, I really can't imagine something better without spending the extra $100.Stick feels perfect in terms of dead zone and resistance/return, throttle is fluid and smooth in movement
    • It takes so time to getting used to because the dead zone is a little big, but once you get used to that
    • The stick supports all axis movements for flight including 'Z'
