If you buy the version with just USA maps prelaoaded and then add the European maps then the European maps are not available for lifetime updates

The maps and directions seem accurate, although I've only used it in the US at this point

Nice colorful map.

It takes a little while to update the maps ("free updates" actually means four updates/year), but I just let it run overnight to download the new ones.

While it did download European maps and it basically worked - the user interface is ridiculous

The product is great, very intuitive, free maps for life was selling point.

In theory, I like TomTom, and the US and Europe maps with lifetime updates that come with this device for a low price of $150

unfortunately, the policy at the time was to gibe lifetime map updates for North America, but not for Europe, so my European maps are a number of years out of date, hence the purchase

It never let me down and the maps were impeccable.

Most frustrating is you can't really zoom out and scroll the map like you can every other digital map

Certainly better than nothing, but the maps didn't seem as accurate and the routing seemed questionable.

Wasted 1 hours connecting to internet creating account, down load updates 2 hours... still no Europe maps!

Any decent map can get you from Foggia to Rionero in Vulture to Taormina in Sicily

I had problems with loading the maps, unit kept turning itself off, would not charge correctly (in car or at home), was easily disconnected to satellite feed in city environments or forested areas, took a long time to connect, touch screen did not always respond

I bought this item through Amazon in USA, the main reason being that it has, supposedly, European maps, well, I live in Iceland and the last time I checked, that is part of Europe

We have another trip to Spain/France in a few months, and I'm looking forward to more excellent route-mapping

I've seen a number of different brands but TomTom has the best maps and graphical interface

These cost too much and need expensive updated maps regularly.

Excellent maps bit difficult to use initially

Since my device already has USA, Canada, Mexico and Europe, I expect to pay a little extra to add the missing South East Asia maps.

The maps were unbelievably incorrect.

Then turned on in USA and prompted to change to US map

Very disappointed, as this GPS was purchased for the free map updates.

Picked this model because of reputation for strong European maps

Have a good map, I will be travelling for 5 months in Europe, at this stage I can not trust this unit.

It then lost all the maps, leaving me with what was now essentially a paperweight

When I turned it on it said no maps were available and couldn't find any signal

In the end I found that I could keep all on if I limited the Europe maps set to northern Europe, which was all I wanted really, but I still feel that the device should have enough memory to allow it to carry the maps it is sold with plus future updates, especially as memory is so cheap these days.

Of note is that the claim of free map updates does not apply for International maps

We ended having to try to get out of Milan with only a tiny little sketch of a map we found in a tourist brochure--very frustrating.

It took awhile to download new maps but price is excellent for North American and Europe unlimited maps.

I hope the newer maps will be more accurate and stop sending me to Rome on a cow trail over top of a mountain

So I emailed tomtom to find the solution, but they didn't help me to get it right, instead they asked me to buy the memory, are you kidding me, I spend almost $200 and can't get the right map, why I have to buy another memory

The 1505M is much faster, lighter, locks on to the satellite much more quickly and is more compact since the mount is now built in.

The 1505M is really a bargain (at Amazon's price) especially with the lifetime maps

and I can say that the 1505M is superb.

Occasionally, left and right seemed to be confused, and we were taken down some very narrow streets as well as in circles a couple of times.

I only hope it works as we will do a great deal of driving.

Purchased this unit to provide maps for a week of driving in Scotland, as well as to serve as a replacement for the manufacturer's unit in our Audi Q7 that crapped out - and the dealer wanted $1,500 to replace it

We purchased for use in Europe, where we live, as well as when we visit the US.

Touch screen also not as responsive as on my Garmin unit.
