I used the TomTom for years in Boston--very helpful as it is a confusing city to drive in even for locals--but it consistently doesn't work in the financial district/Chinatown where the buildings are tall and densely packed.

Hopefully, TomTom will resolve this issue with a more robust software update for MyDriveConnect.

In theory, I like TomTom, and the US and Europe maps with lifetime updates that come with this device for a low price of $150

i live in both continents so use all of these maps - the TomTom is definitely trying to do better than Garmin and having also a couple of Garmin Nuvi models, I prefer the TomTom...

Basically, the TomTom is good.

TomTom should be ashamed of such an inferior product.

Tomtom is great, even in very very long tunels in Italy never lost satelite reception

As a result, I am a loyal TomTom user.

We have not used another GPS internationally, so have nothing to compare with, but cannot recommend the TomTom.

That didn't answer the question, because TomTom always gives you a "latest map" guarantee when you purchase one of their GPS units.

We'd use both and the TomTom seemed to favor the autobahns less.

The TomTom did work fine for the basic driving instructions, and it did try to re-calculate quickly if we made a driving mistake, thus the 3 stars rather than less.

I bought this unit to replace a TomTom XXL 540S that I dearly loved but somehow misplaced

I previously owned the TomTom GO 930 which I bought in 2009 and I loved it.

and I highly recommend this TomTom.

Unless you're a regular TomTom user I recommend that you not purchase this GPS

More automatic features than my beloved 10 year old TomTom, which still works, but did not have storage capacity to load Europe.

So I called the Tomtom 1-866-486-6866 number on the box, and it was solved literally in 2 minutes

It seems to me that it is an software issue ( tomtom application), since before updating, it was working

This is more an issue with the Surface Pro then the Tomtom, but still frustrating and maddening.

The 1505M is much faster, lighter, locks on to the satellite much more quickly and is more compact since the mount is now built in.

The 1505M is really a bargain (at Amazon's price) especially with the lifetime maps

and I can say that the 1505M is superb.
