    TomTom Runner GPS Watch (Black)

    • This was one of the main reason I purchased this item -- it be able to have a reliable pace reading.
    • Loses one star for poor pace calculation during runs- steady pace can show variance up to 1:30.
    • I understand a smoothed algo, but any watch should be able to develop a reliable pace within 1/4 mile or less.
    • You have to scroll through the windows as you are running for your time, pace, mileage etc, not real user friendly
    • I give it four stars because I have waited over five minutes on my busy downtown block to get a satellite signal (trees?) and it never syncs up to the right pace on a treadmill despite treadmill mode (however, you can calibrate it afterward so no big deal), but otherwise no problems not even on trails and remote areas
    • When I run I have the distance as the big number, the average pace on the top left, and the total duration on the top right and it works perfectly
    • In other words, ALL the graphs added on the distance and time I traveled/rested while in paused mode, although the top line workout summary (pace/distance) did not.
    • When the pace reads slow, and I speed up my pace, it takes several seconds to minutes to register that the pace has increased and usually says I'm going slower before it says I'm going faster.
    • Loses one star for poor pace calculation during runs- steady pace can show variance up to 1:30.
    • Of course this meant that my average pace was dramatically slowed because the watch insisted that I ran .6 of a mile less than I actually did
    • They are fast and the pace in particular is non responsive, even when walking my pace is about 8 minute mile
    • Seeing your pace isn't as helpful.- Lap mode: Manual lap mode makes up for many of shortcomings of interval mode
    • They sent a new one with a working joystick and what appears to be a more reliable pace calculator
    • I also noted, that, although the distance/pace top line are not affected, even the graph of your route has this paused distance added on, as where the route traveled showed I crossed the 3 mile point was NOT the same point that I actually crossed 3 miles.
    • I only use it occasionally, especially to support pacing during racing, but I love the simplicity of the design, how easy it is to see the numbers during a workout and the Quick GPS (only remember- if you haven't used it in a few weeks, it takes sometime to find the GPS).I'm writing the review because I just tried out the RACE feature on the watch for the first time and I loved it!!!
    • (it goes to a slower pace, so I know it's not just starting a new minute).3.
    • Mile 2 it got right, and then it proceeded to UNDERestimate my pace for miles 3-5.
    • so I took the watch for the same run on my local gym's treadmill and got the same discrepancy where according to the watch I ran over 4 miles at a great (fgor me) pace but per the treadmill I was again averaging about a 10 min/mile pace.
    • :) Works just as i have expected, really awesome buy :):)
    • I used it indoors as well as
    • I was able to set it up so that when I do that, the data goes to the TomTom website as well as to Strava automatically
